The car will be a LHD ,RHD cars are not allowed to be imported for steet legal use anymore,except the skyline.with those emmissions stuff all thats done to comfirm it with US spec is just a remapped ECU,

Just a remapped ECU to make it emissions legal?!?! I doubt that. After all the trouble I heard Subaru having to make the STi meet US emissions in the first place. What about the octane(RON or whatever it is) the STi was made to run on in Japan compared to what we have available here? I would just get a US spec one and have a warranty to boot. It's up to you.

That makes no sense at all. Does the Skyline have some kind of special deal with the government that no other cars have? Either RHD is allowed or it's not.

Besides, if the imported car is LHD, then it's not "J-spec". All cars made for the JDM are RHD. Now it could be done a couple of different ways: Either a JDM model was converted to LHD (a very expensive proposition), or a Euro model was tuned up to JDM specs. Either way you're not getting a factory STi.

celm,
what gives? in order to make a car us-spec it is a lot more than ecu replacement. heck, i wish it were that easy!!!
