I read in one article that prodrive helped with the new version (look at the steering wheel on the STi, it's prodrive). Because of that there wouldn't be a "Prodrive" version.

Hey all,

I found this link while looking up more info from the Paris auto show.
http://autonet.ca/autoshows/Stories.cfm?StoryID=6678 It talks a little about the STi. It looks just like the one that JJ posted at the begining of this thread. But everything in the article just said STi, nothing about the Prodrive edition.

Does this mean that there is no Prodrive edition, because Prodrive was suppose to assist in the redesign? So unlike Europe that get two versions, (standard and Prodrive) we get one version that appears to be a combination of both? Does anyone have any futher info or site that I can go to? And I have to agree with MKIV Supra While the outside would be nice it's the inside that counts.

If one thing good comes out of this makeover, it is the rear of the vehicle. The new wing gives the car a more aggressive look. Also, the rounded lights in the back add to a rather bland light fixture.

Thank god Subaru did not keep the altezza lights. If it were the case, Im sure many including myself would be retracting their deposits.

Wow, after reading that webpage link I learned that Subaru changed alot of things for the better in the Impreza. I thought this makeover was just changing the front headlights to something more acceptable for the consumer but they [subaru] also improved bits of the car. go subaru.

Wow I like the front end. It won't take me as long to grow to like it like the current model. Although I think I will miss the bug eyes, especially the cluster projector JDM HID headlights. But hey, it's what's under the hood that counts!

Anyway, JJ, are you going to post/move the new STi pics on the photos page?

Growl, I didn't even notice the steering wheel. What made me think it was a Prodrive edition was the rear wing and blue guages.

zerepjd, well they get 2 versions now, but when this new one comes out it might be different. Who says we even get one version. Anyway, we will have to wait and see who gets what.

Marine06, yeah I like the wing but I don't know if I would want it standard. As much as I like it I think I would get crap from my peers when they see me pull up in an STi with the big wing, hood scoop, and all. Everything I love about the STi so far is from a driver's standpoint. Visually I would have to explain the "riceness" to my fellow acquaintances in my age group. I hate to say I would care, but it gets to a point where I do a little. Anyone know if the wing is actually functional. I will really need to back up the look of the STi with it's performance, so if there is one thing performance wise(that can't be fixed :wink we do not get, I will have to take a pass. If anyone questions the look I would like to be able to just take them for a ride and then see what they say. Of course, I have said this before, if the STi does go for a premium price wise, which I am sure it will, and we get shafted on a few things, I will not be paying the money not matter how it looks. I am SO glad there are no altezzas. There is some functionality built into the tail lights it does have. According to the website they were designed to be more visible in low visibility rally conditions. I wonder if they have that light you can turn on in the fog that stays on like on Rage Rovers, Volvos, etc. Oh well I still love the new look.

MKIVSupra

I think that in an earlier thread when people were talking about Bullett's car. The wing is not functional. More for looks. The one that comes standard on the WRX that came with the non prodrive model before the redesign was suppose to be functional. The new wing is not suppose to be adjustable either. Well let me change that. The new wing is functional I beleive but only at speeds that would be unrealistic for everyday driving. It may be functional if you oculd pull 80MPH through a 90 degree turn and stick it the whole way and not shoot off the road trying it.

Though I do like the interior especially the steering wheel. Though I though Subaru got rid of those lame ass cup holders over the stereo. The last thing need is condensation shorting out my head unit. I was never really fond of the Prodrive wing, and the hood scoop looks like it's on steroids. The RSX looking head and tail lights will grow on me but I kind of miss the bug-eyed look. Overall I think the new look is acceptable. I'll just have to get used to people trying to race me at every stop light.

Does anybody know about the price? I saw on the scrolling marqee that the price is suppose to be $32,000. Any confirmation?

I think I like the new look. That said, I would take either car. At least they didn't Alteezafy the rear lights.

Hey all,

Question? What's the vent looking thing about 6-8" in front of the hood scoop on the WRC car on ScoobyDo's clip? Did they move the top mount intercooler? Or is it a second larger intercooler? Or did they completely move the intercooler to in front of the hood scoop so that they could put a larger intercooler in but move it in front of the engine to try and get rid of the heat soak inherent in intercoolers mounted directly over the engine?

Anybody have a clue?

I believe that is the exhaust for the air that passes through the front mounted IC.

Yeah, it's a front-mounted IC. I don't know exactly what the second hood vent does, but it might be another scoop for the back side of the IC, so it gets air from both sides. But I do know the rear scoop feeds directly to a big panel air filter (the intake tract is more direct to the manifold, rather than snaking around the side from the fender).

Scope this (it's a 9 meg Quicktime movie):

I think I would take the new front end over the old one now.
