Default new test evo ix vs 06 sti

http://autos.aol.com/article/power/v...24111209990001

pretty sad At the test track the sti took 5.4 seconds to reach 60 mph to the Evo's 4.9. It began to close the distance by the quarter-mile, though its 13.6-second run was still three-tenths of a second behind the Mitsubishi.
Too bad they cant drive.
I bet you can guess who won.

Does anyone doubt that the STI make 300/300 at the crank?

Well that says it... it's from AOL Autos...

It's just a regurgitated Edmund's review.
Take it for what it's worth- 2 cents.

I don't get the 1/4 and 0-60 times. I thought that the STI put up better numbers stock? This is the second review that has made the claim, and I've read at least two reviews that went the other way.

I don't doubt the STi makes 300/300, I doubt the EVO makes what is advertised. Those new IX's have LOTS more power than what's advertised. I think Mitsubishi is doing it as a joke to Subaru. Our EVO's faster and we don't even have 300HP. Haha.

motor trend has the 06' STi at:
0-50 in 3.1 and 0-60 in 4.5sec Quater mile in 13.0 at 103.5mph.

Evo IX MR(without sunroof)
0-50 in 3.3 and 0-60 in 4.5sec Quater mile in 13.3 at 103.4mph

They mentioned that they were annoyed with the 5,500 launch rev-limiterin the Evo . So I dont think they "disabled" it.

I've read a lot of comparisons between these two new 2006 cars. To be honest, all most all of them had different opinions about the handling characteristics of the two cars. One says that around a road course th STi had higher speeds entering a corner and spiked the g-load right before exit. Where as the Evo had a more linear G-load curve. The "AOL auto" says the Evo is easy to rotate off throttle where as another magazine says the STi has the trait of oversteering upon lifting the throttle which set it apart from the Evo. LOL! The motor Trend even said that the STi always had oversteer in reserve and the evo didnt.
Im sick of hearin about these comparisons. If there was a comparison, make that numerous comparisons, that put these two cars head to head with the exact same alignment settings and tires, I might choose a winner. In stock form.

If you're 22 and want to impress the boyz then mag review of the week is important.

If you need a car that is reliable, sold by solid company, and supported by good dealer network, the choice is obvious.

The Evo is an AMAZING car. But I'd never buy one. My car is my transportation first and formost. Mitsu is the crappiest car company doing business in the USA. Their dealers are the theivingist bunch of scumbags you will ever encounter.

If the Evo was made by Toyota or honda, they would sell millions of them.

Besides, you can't launch like they do to achieve those numbers anyway. Thats a key difference between our cars and a GTO for example. A GTO can reel off its "official" 0-60 times all day long and not suffer. (especially the AT version)

Car and Driver. It was the November, 2003 issue...we use it at our dealership sometimes in our product presentations! But we all know that the current one does stock 0-60 sprint in 5.1 . Hopefully with the MY2008 redesign we'll see something badder and faster
