Default Philly Auto Show 2008 rumors in place of poor showing

I just went to the last day of the Philadelphia Auto show at the convention center and WOW did Subaru put on a poooooor showing. It was unbelievable! It really made me sad and less proud of the car I drive and love. They had no rally car prototype, no STI's, no legacy spec Bs, nothing new, not even a WRX except for the stupid TR edition (and even that was locked). There were a few mildly massaged STIs waaaay in the back behind a huge sign I guess so nobody could see them. I asked the guy standing behind the desk "hey what's up with the lack of anything good?" The answer was "well the STIs get beat up pretty bad here so we didn't bring one this year." Uh Mercedes brings $100K+ cars that you can sit in and Subaru can't bring one $32K car. It was insane the black legacy GT (regular regular regular) was what the spokesmodel was prancing around talking about the AWD and how great it is. The corporate suit that I was talking to said "hey I saw pics of the new STI and it is going to be incredible! Going to look like a miniture version of the Tribeca 4 doors and a hatch. There is also going to be a 4 door version and a 2 door version." I asked if the power would be going up and the price staying the same? Answer: "Oh yeah that is the point and yes the power will go up a little." I said well Subaru better come up with something damn good to compete with the highly technical and not so bad looking (in my opinion) Evo X. The answer to this was the most sad "yeah it does look like its going to be tough to top"...... uhhh... no product support after that just "yeah that evo is going to be good.... The lady next to him said "yeah" with that face you make when you tink something is truly unlikely. I just had to vent a little and I thought this guys report of various models of STI was new. False but new none the less. Anyone else go to Philly and get truly sad? Oh yeah and in the "tuner section" there were NO STIs, not one... there were three last year. Sad Sad Sad.

Yes it was twelve dollars and two hours of my life I regret spending. VSGTS14: yeah if the new STIs look like little tribecas I will be a mitsu man sooner then I'd like to admit. Don't get me wrong I want to keep my 05 for as long as possible but unless Subaru really steps up it may be my last STI (by step it up I mean Legacy STI twin turbo H6, haha.

Now that you admitted it I did the same in the MR and I would LOVE to have those seats + side impact airbags. Please Subaru please give us better seats for the sports car you give us.

oh and 5 speed manual and 6 speed SMG.. who uses 5 speeds anymore in real sports cars?

Don't fault Subaru-I don't think any of the manufacturers care about the Philly show. They didn't even have Ferraris or Lotuses at the show. WTF, no Ferrari.
It's an awful car show.

Subaru better pull out something good for the 08 STi, or I'm buying an Evo.

It was horrible, they only had that Bosal STI, they could not even put a 2006 STI in there! That is just ashame.

The same exact sentiment poked its head here when the 06 came out: "Man this car sucks! The new front end is ugly . . . screw Subaru, I'm buying an EVO!"

All of these are just rumors. No one can say for sure what will happen to the STi until it actually rolls into dealer lots. It's disheartening to hear people dismiss Subaru because of a rumor . . . I think I'm starting to repeat myself.

My dismissal of Subaru was based solely on the DISMAL display at the car show and how the reason for not having the STI was that it gets "banged up." I don't/won't knock Subar about the 2008s unless it's decided that the prototype B5 is going to be the new STI... yuck, yuck and more yuck. I love my Subaru and I recommend everyone get Subarus but damn could you at least give us an acceptable show here in the Tristate. For God's sake they had a 3 year old chassis on the single turntable.
