I'm in the process of acquiring a 2006 right now and one dealer told me about these rates the other day. I found that I could get a 24 month loan at 1.9%, and I could earn 2.35% interest at my local bank in a money market account. Over the course of the loan, it would earn about $120 of interest above the interest consumed by the loan. For anyone looking to out-right buy a car, this may be a way to make it a bit cheaper, as long as you want to deal with makeing monthly payments every month.

Make sure you bring this up to the dealer because they usually won't volunteer this type of information.

I don't know of many people who pay cash for their car. With interest rates this low, you can MAKE money by financing and investing. I already make "monthly payments" on everything from credit card bills to rent to student loans anyways.

I've got two certified checks ready to go, one for my primary dealership, and one for a nearby dealer that has another STI in case anything is fishy with the first one. I'm heading over to Chicago Saturday to pick one up. I'll fill you all in with the details once the sale is final. I do believe this is a rather sweet deal considering the 2006s just came out. I've got a better price than Becker Subaru was offering, which was the lowest I had heard of on the 2006s at this point. Plus, I don't have to fly out to the east coast.
