Default The August 2005 Issue of CAR Magazine...

... Has a quick preview of the 06 STI on page 139. They call it. The best Impreza ever New nose, new aerodynamics, astonishing cornering. Giving it five stars out of five.

Article is has follow.

Don't worry about the facelift. Could be worse, could be a lot better, but it really doesn't matter next to rhe dynamic improvements brought about by changes to the all-wheel drive chassis. This is the best Impreza ever, and it's in Britian this autun,.
The key bits are the new 41/59 front/rear torque split, against the previous 36/65, plus a revised DCCD with steering angle senr and extra mechanical limited-slip diff to improve traction, stability and all-round response.
The result is handling that's entered a new realm of super agility. Whatever the corner, the STi simply turns in and goes round, staying resolutely settled and on line, with only the slightest touch of the wheel needed to change direction. You'd need to be on the track to near its limts, with your bvery the only limiting factor.
The body is stiff and the sterring ao-kart sharp, with stronger self-centering, ut watch out for the Brembo brakes. They're massively powerful but pedal feel could be a lot more progressive. sometimes it feels like pressing down on a stone.
First tie out in the Japan-spec WRX STi, what hits you most of all is the incredible speed. The 1994cc boxer four with a twin scrll turbocharger is strong and has brilliant, crisp-revving elasticity. In the zone, from 3000rpm through to the 800rpm cut ot, it pulls like a train.
The six-speed gearbox is quick and clean. There's stronger mid-range punch now and highest torgue peak (311lbft) of any production Imperza to date.
Power is capped at 276bhp for Japan but, even so, the Impreza's ground covering ability is stunning.
Don't expect any major price changes when the WRX STi reaches the UK, so it'll be about 10k more than the Japanese price. Worth every penny. You'll love it. Verdist: Hard to believe, but the new Impreza is better than ever. words by Peter Nunn

Well whaddaya know. The 41/59 F/R split is for real. Overseas at least. It will be interesting to see if it made it into the US version. I wonder if this is a response to the reviews that give the EVO better marks for handling, what with it having a 50/50 split and all.

Isn't one of the selective ratios on the DCCD already 41F/59R or close to it? If so, the only advantage is that it's defaulted to that value on the 2006.

Honestly speaking, does anyone here think you could tell the difference on the torque split between the 05 and 06?? I dunno, unless you can "push" the limits of the car so to speak
