05's are no longer in production.

The evo IX is still 6-7 months away.

All the sti's that have been produced are already allocated to dealers, but there will still be plenty to be had, so no need to order really.

So one of the posts on page 1 said that his ordered car will arrive at the dealer on 6/30. Is that likely the last shipment of 05s then, or not? Are the 06s in production yet, or does the factory shut down for a while for retooling? I would think that if the 06s were in production on or before today, that we should see then in the US in the first week of July.

Might be coincidence but the one I reserved is coming in as part of my dealer's allocation "on or around June 30". He said it is likely still in Japan now.

This is the last batch that my dealer is getting.

My dealer said the same thing.

My car should be here right around July 1st he said.

It is the last dealer allocation.

The cars are still in Japan - and some are still being built. This will be the last batch of 05s.

Then they come to the states and they install the options there.

Interresting.

Im assuming they will be flying them to the states not by boat?

Well if this news is accurate, I can rest easy. I don't want a heavier or uglier car, so my 05 was a good purchase! If anything I'm considering shaving off some more weight. A bumper beam here, battery there, lose the spare for track days, maybe take out the AC...might be able to save just over 100lbs. Seriously, I'm sure there must be a few changes we don't know about. I wonder if the new cars gets beefed up rear axles...I thought I read something about that.

Either way, I'm very happy with the 05 and I'm glad there aren't a lot of changes for the 06. I bet we'll see an amazing STi in 07 though.

First of all thanks for taking the hit and paying the fee! As for the diffuser, well, *most* of the stuff hanging off the front, sides and back of the car are just pieces of plastic. I guess it comes down to how good they look and whether or not they actually do any good.

There is a service page showing a rear wiper on a sedan, but it doesn't indicate which impreza models get it.
Can you elaborate on what options were listed?

I'd love to put a rear wiper on my car but I didn't think it was worth the expense of dragging all that stuff across the Pacific. If it is all available at US dealers, that might make the price more tolerable.

Cheers!

So the 2006 STi has gained 53 lbs.
Hrm. 33 pounds of the extra weight are in the nose. I wonder how much is the cosmetic makeover and how much is different mechanical/electrical stuff.

There is a section on options, but since it is the Factory Service Manual, they only list a few options that a mechanic would need to know how to install/remove.

Unfortunately I did not see anywhere in the 2006 Factory Service Manuals that actually list options for the STi. My 3-day subscription has now ended but I have some of the technical docs as pdfs on my computer.

I downloaded the rear wiper/washer page - there is a sketch showing the rear wiper/washer on a sedan. It simply describes how to remove the unit. It states that it shares a reservoir tank with the front washer, and lists some other technical specs (rear blade 350 mm, . It was not listed under the "optional equipment" section so I am assuming that all the STis will have it...

I'm just happy Subaru runs only two year live cycles for their cars. Two years for the first wrx(02-03), than two years for the current cycle. It very uncharacterstic of a car manuafacture. Look at honda, I can swear they run their cars on a 20 year cycle..jeez.

Well think about cycles like this...
The more you change a body style the more depreciation you will see. For example.. I cant even try to keep up with how fast Infiniti changes their cars. Infiniti is considered a "premium brand" and still... because of depreciation their cars are almost worthless... Its similar to the 50s when every year people HAD to buy a new car to stay up with the NEW technologies. Its all so the car company can make money.

Now, I dont think suby is really doing it for that reason, but you get my point

Longer cycles = more money in your pocket when you sell your car!

If your theory was correct, the Chevy Caviler would be priceless and Honda Civic's, Accords etc would be worthless.

Example, Inifiniti's G35 Coupe is hot. The 2003 model is selling about $5-7K less than a new 2005. The 350Z was hot in the first year, now a 2003 can be had for about $20k.

Its all about supply and demand. If demand is high for a particular car/style, the price will be higher. Look at the Honda Civic Si Coupe. An unmolested one with about 80k miles can be had for about $8-$10k.
