Eww...I'd have to see it in person, but I think it is too cluttered in the front...too much going on. I'll have to see in person, then it may grow on me.

as a former 04 owner...

I like it!
Not nearly as bad as it could of been, and while I'll reserve total judgement on it until I see it in person it does not look bad at all. Weirdest part is the trunk/back end, those lights and that single badge look odd to say the least.

I am going to guess the interior will remain the same. It was just redesigned for 2005 so I dont know if they will do another one for 2006. As far as the engine, arent there rumors for a 2.5l 230hp wrx? As far as the sti, I think it might remain the same, just some minor improvements like they did with the evo.

Tribeca = New front end grill
2006 Forester = no new grill, but facelifted
2006 Impreza = new front end grill

So why didn't the Forester get the new face? Are they considering not going this way still?
Well, I think Subaru maight be trying to tie together the different models(eventually, heh) like BMW, with a trademark grill design. I don't think they've figured out which design creates the most interest so we may see several "experiments".

thnx for the pics.... for me i would have to see it in person and look at the specs.... as of right now, im not digging the front and rear of the car... i do like the fact it has projectors and if it maintained the rear wiper and sidemarkers for the usdm that would be schweet....

Not as nice looking as the 04/05 STi, but i'd still buy one. The 06 is going to require a lot of debadging. I think they went with a more of an agressive approach. Ballsy and i think i will like it even more when i see it person. Looks like the interrior is the same (at least the same front seats). The 'little wing' on the roof is going to have to go(reminds me of a vortex generator and im not buying a triple diamond). I hope the 'little wing' comes as an 'extra' so i dont have to buy it (if that time ever comes). Lovin the side vents to help out the 'agressive look'. Looks like the same engine which is a good thing. The new headlights and tail lights coloring dont bother me, however the subaru symbol badge thingy on the back looks horrible, lettering looks better.

I almost sold my STI. I am so glad now that I didn't. That thing is atrocious. Hopefully the redesigned 2007 will look better.

I like it. I like it more than my 05, but I didn't buy STi for looks... I am much more interested in what has changed under the skin. Oh, and why are those plastic covers on the rear fenders still there - I thought it was a temporary solution to accomodate wider wheels/tires?

And is this is just a "feeler" car to see how the public reacts....
- Put the rear wiper on the USDM STIs
- Put the side markers on the USDM STIs
- Bring back the hood scoop from the 04/05s. The one in these pics looks like the 02/03 one. I think it looks better when the top of the scoop is leaning forward like on the 04/05s.
- Offer a *wing delete* option.
- Give it a small HP bump. (1) Maybe ~320 would be nice. Pretty please.
- Start production ASAP and get them on the way.

(1) Just code the ECU to limit the HP on 91 octane like they have in California. Because the people there want to limit themselves to 91 octane doesn't mean you should lessen the experience for the rest of the US market. If I can get 93 or 94 octane, I want to take advantage of it.

Thats all for now.

True dat, they shouldn't limit the hp just because of the liberals out in Cali (im a liberal as well, but don't believe 93 octane ought to be banned). I think the 05/04 hood scoop would look kinda rediculous in size, but i wouldn't mind seeing a chop.

I'm actually surprised by my reaction... I'm still not sure about that front grill, but the rest of the changes are fine. I like the front airdam section a lot better, much cleaner looking. I like the trunk with just the subaru logo instead of the word subaru spelled out. I don't mind the roof wing, it's fairly inconspicuous and I assume serves a purpose similar to what the "ornaments" on the roof of the Evo MR do.

Overall, I like it I think. Which greatly surprises me.

The look has grown on me in the past 6 hours or so. Honestly I don't think I mind it anymore. From the side, the front looks awesome. Reminds me of the new SLK.

And as for our cars being limited because of California... That sucks. Are our cars actually tuned for 91 octane? I thought they would change the car just for California. Honda does this with their motorcycles.

The problem with building a car specific for one state is that a dealer on the border between states cannot sell that car to the neighboring state. I'm sure they can make the ECU smart enough to figure out how well the fuel is burning and know how much octane the fuel has. Then what happens if you buy a car in any other state, then move to CA. What, they aren't going to let you register your car there? You would have to sell it and buy a CA authorized one. And in a market of fast cars, who would want to buy the CA bastardized one?

I'd love to see some car company stand up and say NO to California. Nobody wants to loose out to that big of a market share though. Once somebody does it, the rest would follow.

Saw the Tribeca at the dealership a few days. I doubt this new STi is a feeler. Isn't that what people where saying when the Tribeca was shown at the car shows. That is one fugly center grill...... Just like the one on this STi
