I contacted a dealer in FL for a price and this was their reply....

Hi Terry, my name is David Cardwell and I can help you with any
information that you may need regarding the Subaru STi ESX edition.
You can read all about the car at
http://www.esxmotorsports.com/limited.htm
We are only getting the 365hp versions as they are street legal. The
MSRP is around $54,000 and Easy Street is offering the 425hp version as
an upgrade. They will actually fly out here to oversee the upgrade and
to tune the vehicle to make sure it is up to their standards. The
upgrade is around $3000.
We will require a 10% deposit from serious buyers. As you can imagine
we are getting plenty of inquiries on this car but it is not going to
be in everyones budget.
Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have anymore questions
and thank you for your interest in Mastro Subaru

Hmm.. i'd rather have an 05 Z06 for 54K. As much as I love the STi I wouldn't pay 14000 more dollars for a few "cool" things.

$54,000??????

Man, don't get me wrong, I love the STI.... but you can get a lot more car for that price.

I can get a Porsche (used) 911 Carrera coupe, with less than 16,000 miles on it for less than $49,000..... now that's Boulevard statue, and it will out handle the STI..... just my 0.02 cents

I guess for this car to be worth the $$, you need to care a whole lot about the "special edition" factor. I mean, you can get 365 horse with an exhaust, a good tune and maybe a couple other bolt on parts for like $3,000. After that, it's just cosmetics - a "love it or hate it" paint job/interior, ugly rims, and an unnecessary audio/video setup.

I'd like to have a red STi but, they can do away with the racing stripes.. atleast on the 365hp version.

These cars are quite interesting. You can purchase the sti for $32k and the same mods they have on this car cost approximately $4500 if you buy them from them. So you get a new paint job, wheels, a navigation system, recovered stock seats, SPT shifter, and a few other extras. I like the car but I would never pay $52K for an sti, that's crazy. I guess that 2 yr warranty adds another $10K to the price?? Oh well, hope for the people buying them they do end up being worth money.

I think these are gonna depreciate like crazy. We've all done the math, whether new or used why pay the extra. I just don't see the "added value".

Unfortunately, I would not buy from that dealer no matter how great the deal. They did not allow STI test drives until you sat down and had your credit run. So I got back into my Porsche, drove 10 miles to the next Subie dealer, where I was treated like I owned the place, drove the STI, which is now sitting in my garage.
