Default Latest 2007 STi Scoop from Japan & other sources - May 10th Update

May 10th 2007
I have come by some new pics here in Japan and it seems they are looking at multiple formats of the Impreza.
i - current 4 door type
ii - 2 door hatchback
iii - EU style hatch
Here are the latest pics - enjoy.

Previous
As you are all well aware I keep an eye on things closely here in the spy magazines and well here is what I came across today from CAR TOP www.cartop.co.jp

The IMPREZA WILL GO HATCHBACK from 2007!!! It will also be 4255 X 1800 X 1430mm in size with 300ps and 43.0kg torque.
They are gearing up for the new WRC rules as one could guess and are going light to compete with the likes of Ford and other hatch backs.

As always I will bring you more once I know. Cheers - Jason in Japan!

I keep seeing that front on various pictures. That is the most butt ugly front I have ever seen. In my opinion, the current models front can last another 10 years. Im telling you… Front ends make a car… The front end of the Integra was one of its keys to success. That front end will kill the car.

Were I a cynical man, I would think that Subaru, in a fit of creative confusion, would be feeding JDM "Spy Mags" with various design studies to gauge consumer reaction.

Subaru guy1: "Well they certainly didn't like the "Alfa" nose".
Subaru guy2: "And not much interest in Legacy lights."
Subaru guy3: "How about a hatchback design?"

As always, thanks for the updates Jason! The hatchback would be interesting, but would that make it a 2-door? I need the 4 for easy car seat access in back! The front end is fine to me, it can't stay the same forever! And how many people complained when the bug eye went away...this is no different.

Thanks!

Looks like a 2 door - 4 seater. In the non-STi version there will most likely be a 4 door varient.

Did your care package arrive?

IN A HEARTBEAT IS IS!

Definitely.

And I can have a legitimate excuse to remove the backseat too.

I highly doubt they will get rid of the sedan. Offering both a hatch and sedan version seems more likely. Sort of Mazda 3 hatch and sedan, Jetta/Golf etc. I like the front end styling from those pshops, better than any of the other rumored crap.
