1st quarter 2006 from what I have read. This should be in tune with MS's Xbox2 and a next-gen example for the boys at Nintendo. The rumor is that the PS3 will be backwards compatible with all pre-gen games (of course). Also included will be DVR capabilities (I assume this means a built in HD) as well as Sony's Blu-Ray technology. From what I've read one Blu-Ray DVD layer holds about 50-gigs. The word is that Sony as successfully placed 5 layers on a single disk which equates to about 250 gigs of Grand Theft Auto goodness. Toshiba has their own version of this technology thoughtfully named HD-DVD, but I really think Sony will win this one with impending success of the PS3. Toshiba HD-DVD players just now hit the market and will only set you back a cool grand if you could find movies in that format.

It is all hear-say and rumors.
