Subaru Coupe

More rumors and illustration about the joint Toyota/Subaru small coupe coming up next year.

They are talking about a smaller 2.0 Liter Boxer engine with 220hp.
More than enough for a small car.

We would only get the Subaru version. The Toyota might be for Japan only.

A sub-$20 000 coupe with the great Roo engine? That sounds great.

I agree with one of the posters about Subaru offering FWD in the US.
Most people do not need and will never use AWD. Give people a choice of the cheaper and more economical FWD (Like they used to)
They thought they would be special by only offering AWD cars. But what would make them special is a bit more originality in their designs.

I like that design. If Subaru were going to ditch AWD I would prefer they do it for RWD though. Well, we know that is not going to happen.......

Subaru ditch AWD...I very much doubt it. One of their advertising points is the whole "AWD in every car" idea. I would be shocked if they offered a FWD. In addition...how the hell would this even occur given the boxer engine...fitting a driveshaft under the engine is one thing, but an entire transmission in a sport coupe...I VERY much doubt it, the geometries would be disgusting. It would handle like a U-Haul.....

How would a RWD transmission be worse than an AWD one? It's just the same engine with a (smaller) trans under it, then a driveshaft going back to the diff. I know it's not likely to happen. It won't be because it won't fit though.

Just so you and every one eles is aware Subaru did make FWD cars in the '80s. Now they the cars did get good gas mileage but could not drive worth a S***. And yes they had the 1.8L H4 engines or smaller in them.

As for the car I would like to see one personaly before I make any decisions on it.

I just got back from Israel and saw dozens of 1.6l Imprezas that did not have rear differentials. I don't believe they advertise "AWD in every car" in all regions. Especially in regions where MPG is more important then traction.

Our GDs were the first chassis meant to be strictly AWD. As long as the top of the line coupe has AWD I could care less what a base model offers. Just give it the STi treatment

Yes and No, it's ironic that my 07 STI uses many bits and parts simular to my ola 99 Integra GSR.
