Default Forced Performance (FP) ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!

Hi guys,

So here is my story........

I purchased an FP Red a couple years ago, and installed it on my 06' STI with all the supporting mods. Runs great up here in Denver at altitude. I build my cars for drag race so to give you an idea as to what satisfied me, it was running a 11.7 @ 118 mph in the 1/4 mile at Bandimere last year...

Anyways the car threw a rod bearing last year and I built a new motor. Come last winter I decided to take off the FP Red and send it out to be rebuilt and ported, considering the car was burning oil and bearing fragments went through the turbo......

Now Forced Performance (FP) had a bad history, in my mind at the time, about taking forever to get things done and shipped out. (AT THE TIME!!!!!)

So I decided I was going to send the turbo to DEADBOLT ENTERPRISES to have my services done... I send it out to "Jerry" along with a check (thats "how they do it" ) but anyways it can be done "quickly." I also asked to have the turbo powdercoated to look like the RED on their website...

After about a weeks time I get an email:

"Unfortunately I have a bit of bad news. It appears that the center section used in your turbo is not a genuine Mitsubishi, it is one of the Chinese copies and has some issues. Did you buy this direct from FP or second hand? I didn't think that they used those parts.
I am trying to figure out why there is some interference inside and some strange offset wear, and I hope to have an answer back to you on that this afternoon."

So I'm like WFT!!! Keep in mind I didn't get a call or email back, and they NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONE at DEADBOLT.......

SO.....

I call Forced Performance and like a REAL company someone picks right up! I ask them about their parts they use and etc.... let them know about what is going on..etc...and the OWNER OF FP (Robert Young) gets on the phone.

I'm like look I didn't send this to you because I didn't want to take forever etc... this is what this other guy is telling me, this is why I want to rebuild the turbo, etc.....

So Mr. Young is like:

"Tell them to stop everything, they are not familiar with the turbo's we make. We have heard of this before. The wear they refer to is the machine work we do to install the large parts included in your turbo. SEND IT TO ME DIRECTLY AND I WILL REPAIR IT for free even though you had bearing material go through it..."

I had DEADBOLT put everything back together and still do the RED powdercoating..... THEY TOOK FOREVER to ship it to FP....

Once FORCED PERFORMANCE (FP) got the turbo they rebuilt it and had it shipped out in NO TIME (like 4 days after they got it...)

I get the turbo back, and the RED looks NOTHING LIKE the product on DEADBOLT'S website, no gloss at all....

However FP made the turbo like NEW!! They even welded my internal wastegate flapper shut for free...

DEADBOLT had to mail the check back to me for the difference now that they didn't do the rebuild and of course that took like a month...

In the end the lesson learned is that FORCED PERFORMANCE has really stepped it up and they are turning things out great, and in a timely manner!!

My car is doing great now, pulling an 11.4 and trapping as high as 125mph at altitude!!!!

THANKS FP!!!!! And as always THANKS ADAM AT REVOLUTIONS PERFORMANCE for tuning my car great!!!!!

well that is probably what you will get if you do not send your turbo to its original builder, let along competitors.

Congrats on your new results.

I trust Deadbolt very much, so I am wondering if FP is substituting parts?

Its true Deadbolt never answers there phone, emailing them is the fastest way to get ahold of them. I did not have issues with Deadbolt while dealing with them recently. I bought a DB 20g off of iwsti and had it shipped to them first, it was transfered to my name and checked out. Jerry clipped the wheel per my request and it was shipped to me. I received it in amazing packaging. Besides the contact being through email I have no complaints. They know there stuff at DB, if they are saying its not a genuine mitsu core I would trust them.

Great times, great power, but I wonder how long that core is going to last. There have been quite a few failed FP turbos on here and Nasioc...
