There are some 04 STI's with over 130k+ trouble free miles on them. I wouldn't underestimate the reliability of the older STI's IE 04-06.

^^ Agreed and I think that would be a great car....2 door with STI power and hopefully awd to go along with it!

Cars are typically only as reliable as the driver. Don't change the oil and beat the HELL out of your car all the time and even the most durable car will die.

High RPM and high load all the time will ruin any engine. I don't care what it is.

I maintain my car better than most people I know but I also drive my cars like I stole them. I'm over 60k miles now on the STI and everything is sound. (That includes multiple track days, hard 6k+ RPM launching and my everyday "I like to feel the turbo so I hit WOT every chance I get; knock on wood nothing breaks.) I just think that the older Subarus, for what ever reason, hold up better than the newer ones.

As far as this new Toyotaru goes why doesn't Subaru just make a Coupe STI for the States and call it a day. I hate to say it but I think I would trade my sedan in a second for a coupe STI with the same specs as the current ones. IE 300 hp 300 tq and everything else our cars have.

As far as this new Toyotaru
^-i like Subayota better .

IMO -both of you guys are correct.A vehicles genetics [if you will] is the basement or foundation of that cars future operation. In addition ,maintaining
said machine is just as important.A car is only as strong as its weakest link.If all the eggs arent in the basket = FAT FAILURE lurks.

I'm pretty sure that you are thinking of the Caldina GT4-
this doesn't come with a Subaru engine, but has a 3S-GTE (a version similar to the MR2 turbo and the celica all trac), and it is AWD
