post your scam-related stories/threads here. this will help to warn potential buyers/sellers from getting involved with bad sellers.

this is not to be a flame-fest - just a short story (and a link to the classified ad if available) will suffice.

Hey guys. If anyone knows Thornton22050 do not do any business with him. I sent payment to him for an lg shine phone that he was selling over a month ago now. He apparently shipped it out once, well 3 weeks later I asked where it was and his reply was that he had been out of town for a death in the family, but would ship it out the next day cause it had the wrong zip code the first time and had been sent back to him. Well now it's been almost 3 weeks again and no responses, no tracking info, no phone, no nothing. I made a dispute with paypal and they ruled in my favor, but he already took the money out of his account and so I'm getting the shaft because they have nothing to give me. Either way. This guy is a douchebag. Enough said.

ive heard of him scamming someone else IIRC.

over a set of coilovers, i remember reading about this a long time ago.. any else remember?

file a report with police, they can probalby find ip address or something.

i think that's what i'm going to do..in the meantime..since i paid with my american express through paypal they are covering me and i'm getting my money back..i'm still going after this guy though..my brother-in-law is an ATF agent and with all his colleagues i will definitely be able to get him served with a nice court order

^^^ Holy crap! He got me too! Cliff notes version: He put up a few items for sale including a used Walbro for $50 that I was interested in. I responded immediatly, he responded and paypal was sent. The next day, his for sale thread was gone and so were both of my PM's to him (how is this even possible). Anyways, he was still responding thru email and said it must have been some kind of mix-up. After a month of him saying it was going to be shipped(along with a convenient, out-of-the-country excuse), he just stopped replying... Paypal told me this was not a disputable charge and he doesn't respond so I figure I'm fudged..... I didn't even know his sign-on because his thread and PM's got deleted... I'm just glad it was only $50 and no big money... Let me know if you guys are gonna do something... I have an email trail from him but thats all I can offer. His full name is Scott Thorton and his email is FSTSTI@YAHOO.COM if anyone needs it..

^^^ Don't know if it was the same scam... you said coils and he got me on a pump.. but looks like this guys screwed over a fairly large cross-section of our community... I hope someone gets him...
