He paid $1500 for that thing and I'm envious as HELL. I would have gladly paid $2500 for it!

BTW, does anyone know if the 9-2x and same/similar year WRX share the same suspension components? Our buddy Ryan (the sheriff officer) is looking for struts and I'm trying to find him some answers...

A look under the wheel wells should tell the tale, no? What year Saabaru is it? This sounds like a question for Ben.

IIRC the 9-2X was claimed to have slightly different suspension for a better ride, but that could very well be marketing nonsense.

I know for a fact that the steering rack is shared with the STi though.

GC RSs in nice shape are still probably around 5k though I would guess?

Just depends. There's one for sale in Ohio (on NASIOC) for >3k.

Definitely could, but I talk to him via PM and on occasion when I see him out in his cruiser... I've never actually seen his own car.

I'll PM back and ask what year (unless he's watching and wants to chime in here).

Exactly what I was thinking and hoping to resolve...

If the person you are talking about is the one I met at the dyno day, I'm going to venture a guess and say it was an 05. I vaguely remember him saying he didn't get the 2.5L (and hence has the 05's 2.0L).

I don't think it matters though, AFAIK the suspension didn't change on 05-06 WRXs, and probably didn't on the 9-2X either.

Jason, if he's looking for aftermarket struts (not replacements/part outs) then I'm sure aftermarket WRX wagon bits will fit - I don't think they would change the mount points...

That was Jason. And yeah, his is a '05 (2.0) Aero. You haven't met Ryan (unless you've been pulled over in Macomb... then maybe ).

He got back to me and his is an '05 Linear.

EDIT: Agreed on the aftermarket WRX wagon comment.

I say again, call Ben and ask him. He'd probably know, or at least know whom to ask.

Typing is so much easier than picking up the phone!

Seriously though, I'll eventually break down and call, if I have to... I just don't mind searching for the answer (it's takes me away from work when I'm stuck in this little room from 8-5)!

Damn! I almost packed up and had an email written to get the day off to get back to Michigan!

Anybody going to NAIAS next weekend? It's terrible on weekends, but that's the only time I'm in town.

We may get tickets from the agency. If so, you're driving.

I'm likely going during the day on a weekday. I can't stand fighting the crowds and NOT being able to get up close and sit in the few cars I'm actually there to see... So I'm taking a half day at work and doing it right!

Generally I'm not there to only LOOK at the cars, I'm shopping! Random fact: the Altima SE-R that I had before my STi was THE car Nissan had at NAIAS. Funny thing was that they had to practically give it away because of this and it had ZERO issues. No scratches, smells or anything weird and I got it for $235/month. Too bad the Ferrari booth is so exclusive... Maybe they'd cut similar deals. (Yeah, right...)
