IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | Alright now don't laugh guys. I bought some strut tower bars on friday but didn't get a chance to install the front one till saturday, and tonight was the rear. Well the rear was a pain. And you know how everyone says don't over tighten or they will break. Well i was fine with the front. One of the bolts in the rear broke!!! Does anyone know if you can fix this or do I just have to wait it out till i upgrade struts/shocks can't remember which ones we have in the rear. Oh ya still waiting to be installed is perrin perrin rear diff/subframe lockdown system. I got a good deal from David at Oakos. Big ups to that place really nice and willing to show you whatever you want. And a local's discount. Very happy with the service. I would say if you want odds and ends like bushings and sway bars/ strut bars its pretty cool to just go over there and see them in person. I was thinking about getting the anti lift kit. From talking to a guy who rally races he highly reccomends them. Another thing to think about why cant you use camber plates and the anitlift kits. Wouldn't this help to give you even more camber possibilities that our cars are known to lack? Ah well I might try to make it out to Mt. Clemens tomorrow not sure though its a hike from my house. What time are you guys going out there? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

But with the ALK (which already moves the front wheels foreward) the front wheels were too far foreward,...so I un-did them after about a year. The front wheels were rubbing against the fender liner in the front and wearing a hole in them. If I didn't have an ALK,..I would definately do it again. |

Why can't you use camber plates with an ALK? I have both. The ALK is at the bottom rear of the lower control arm,...the camber plates at the top of the strut. They go very well together actually. If you only have the money for one,...get the camber plates. Then do the pin flip and spacers on the stock rear control arm bushings. Best camer plates on the market in my opinion are the SPC ones (sometimes sold under the Eibach name). There the third ones down on this link,...$260. They have the most adjustment (over 2.5 degrees), and other than the Noltecs,..they are the only ones with a poly bushing. So they don;t add NVH. All theothers are steel pillow-ball. And with just steel to the chassis,..they are louder than stock (and also get dirt in them and rattle in time). I have a used set of Noltecs I can sell for $100. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | arent the strut bolts press fitted like wheel studs? i dont remember, but if they are you can easily replace it. if its a welded piece youll have to wait till you replace the whole strut. hey stu, i think you told me you had a couple of stock STi exhaust cans ( stock axle back ) laying around your place, if so do you think i can get one of them from you (possibly bring one to the meet tomorrow if you show up)? |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | haven't been over in awhile due to work being impossible to leave; going to try really hard to get out there tonight. i have already spoken to some people about it but wanted to make a public post about my missing side view mirror, i don't really want people asking about it tonight(it makes me sad). i was driving down the freeway(I-94) awhile back and there were construction barrels on the left side of the road. my wife handed something to me right as the car in front of me swerved to the right. i was lined up with a barrel(4 feet into the lane, and right in front of my face) and barely could move in time. The main body of the car was unharmed, but i barely clipped the side mirror and it frikken exploded into a million pieces. so as a brief summary, rear bumper still has a scar, and now side mirror is gone. too many bills to pay on other things so my subie has to wait for a makeover |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | It sounded from your post that the bolt you broke was one of the small ones on the top-hat in the rear,...which poke up through the rear package shelf. If so,..they are small bolts that press into the top hat. You could find an appropriate size bolt and tack-weld it on. the torque spec on those by the way is like 18 ft lbs. And for anyone THINKING about going beyond Stage II (Protuned): You should pick this valve up. That's a great deal and an equally great valve. Quote:
