That makes sense. I figured though that the exhaust was wrenching on the turbo a bit and the flex in the UP would allow a bit of give. Certainly I do have the iron brackets still in place. They hold the turbo in position,..but don't have enough strength to keep it from rocking up and down a hair. The hook on the trans isn't strong. It just sort of supports the weight I thought. For sure the Perrin header expands and contracts a LOT. There was over 1/4" of movement evidenced by the scrapes in the ceramic coating when I had to weld them up (because they leaked so badly). The expansion had also sheared off the small bolts on the slip joint brackets. What did the inside of your flex in the cat-back look like? Just mesh or was there a metal tube inside? Mine was just mesh I think. Another item difficult to source. Tony,..you should come out to some of these meets. Chips, dip, chains, whips....a good time for all. I'm heading out now. Of course I hear you have a full load at SI for tuning. A guy I was chatting with the other day said there was a couple week wait for a tune. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Jason, I actually had it in there the next day after I talked to ya, and they had to order new power steering lines and a few other things for it. Sad thing was it took a week to get them in, and that day Mental saw it there...(I am sorry I can't remember his real name)...was a week later and they were installing the parts! Thanks for the warranty too! Didn't have to pay a Dime. They also replaced a front O2 Sensor, which was the reason the Check Engine Light popped on. By far the worst part about this whole thing was not being able to drive it (no power steering), then getting it fixed the day before I left on vacation! I didn't get to drive it for over 2 weeks! Anyways, The car is awesome, I love it! Glad I could finally introduce myself here! Later, Matt

I got the drift part... but, "HUH!?" on the rest? ![]() That was definitely a lot of fun though. I wish things would have been clear in front of you so we could have kept going. It was hard coming off of the sideways action and immediately braking off of that turn... Would have been a lot more interesting if I could have gone WOT and carried the drift.

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2006 Trader Rating: (11) | FYI ~ There will be a gathering of 1-series owners out on Woodward tomorrow night (parked at the usual spot). Anyone that's bored should come out and hang - it's supposed to be a nice night and it would be cool to fill the spaces with Subies and Bimmers. Oh and I should have my CP-E exhaust installed and HOPEFULLY some window tinting too (provided Ryan wasn't a slacker and lined it up). |

Dude, you're not kidding... I think your car was worse than mine on Monday and mine is BAD. Tomorrow = hopefully getting windows tinted in the morning and a thorough washing afterwards!

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | I'm going to be in the garage fabbing up an up-pipe. Tried up-pipe #5 last night. Best pipe diameters,..but it didn't line up to the header at all. So I'm going to cut up a new TurboXS one I acquired and delete the flex section. When I have it mocked up,..I'll re-install the Crucial one and have the car out. Then over the weekend I can detail it out and drop it off at the ceramic coaters the begining of the week. What a PITA! Concoure D'Elegance tomorrow anyone? |
