IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | This is the first time I have needed to take the suby in for emissions testing, and was curious if a g200 catback is going to cause me problems? Will they fail me outright just for having a modified exhaust ? Should I put the silencer in? I realize they don't need to actually hook anything up to the exhaust, but was curious if there will be issues. Thanks, This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Lurker | You should be ok I would think.. I don't think they can fail you outright for a modified exhaust system. Just be careful about a couple of things : 1) Do you currently have a check engine light on the vehicle? You will fail if you do. 2) Are all "Readiness Tests" good to go? When they plug their device into your OBD-II port they are looking for more than just trouble codes. Make sure the car is warmed up and drive around for abit before heading out to the emissions testing place so that all readiness tests can complete. More info on what a Readiness Test is here -> Air Team - Illinois Vehicle Emission Test Program 3) Is there a catalytic converter on the vehicle? If not, there is a good chance you will fail. Reason? Some places use the mirror test under the vehicle to look for a cat, and unless you've tinkered with the PCM you will fail specific readiness tests pertaining to the rear catalytic converter. Good luck! |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Thanks for the response! I've still got my cats, and no check engine lights etc. Just was worried that they would fail me just on the basis of a modified exhaust. Whew, theres a load off my mind. I believe I will go and get it tested sometime at lunch next week, and will let everyone know if I had any problems |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | Thought I would post an updat; went yesterday and had no issues. They didn't look under the car, just hooked up to the ODB-II and a minute later they were done. In any case I still have my cats so that shouldn't have been an issue anyway. Appreciate the help guys. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | Wow, did they do the mirror test? Well I have spent the last 7 years in Savannah, Ga, where there are no emissions test. I'm getting ready to move back to Chicago, and I'm thinking about leaving my Georgia tags on, because I have no cats, I have and external wastgate, and TGV Deletes. I don't have any CEL because of the AP V2, but I'm worried that I may have to re-register my car in Illinois. Georgia is such a joke about vehicle laws, I still have my Illinois drivers license, and Georgia plates. Its been a while since I lived in Chicago, how often do you have emissions test? Also does anyone else do emission testing besides air team? |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | To be able to renew your license plate stickers your car has to pass an emissions test, though Im not sure if its required every year or if its every few years. Nope, no mirror test, no peaking under the car, the dude just wanted me in and out to get the next car done. As far as getting around emissions.. there are some counties outside of Chicago that don't require emissions testing. If you really wanted to get shady with things, and had a family member living in one of those counties.. you could always register your car at their address and then you won't need to worry about it. Not something I would do, but my girlfriend did it with her dad's address get away with not having city stickers/emissions testing |

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2008 Trader Rating: (0) | How often do they give emissions testing? I just got my 05 STi over the summer and was planning on getting a g200 and invidia v2 catless dp with accessport. Wanted to know how often I'd need to switch out my exhaust. |
