Default Tuner in Michigan?

Hi guys, still not an owner yet but as I posted 4 months ago by the end of january I will be owning a STi. I've narrowed my search to a 2005 in WRB or OBP around 30k miles, my audi is paid of february 10th so it's getting close! Anyways one of the first mods I'd like to do is a TBE with Cobb's Access port. From what I've read thus far it seems best to go with a protune rather promptly to make sure I'm in a safe state of tune. I live in Michigan (flint area), I haven't been able to find a tuner with a AWD dyno in my state, is there any michiganders who can recommend a reliable tuner? Hopefully something in the 500ish or less dollar range? thanks-Don

BTW; this is a great website for information and friendly, helpful people

You can come down to Toledo, OH and hit up Pure Tuning to get on the dyno. Kieth will take care of ya. www.pure-tuning.com

There's a shop near Detriot called Speed Industry that tunes in your area as well. Speed Industry Index

Pure tuning uses the cobb Ap then? I didn't see it on their website before. I really appreciate the info, do you remember roughly what they charged you to protune?

Tuning Factory is no longer in business. I would recommend Speed Industry.

Thanks for the info guys (and sorry for putting this the wrong forum, I'm still a newbie so I wasn't sure if I was supposed to stay in the newb section). I talked to Keith at pure tuning, he seemed really knowledgeable and fairly inexpensive. From what I understand I really don't need to buy a AP to have my car tuned, kinda seems like a waste of money unless I really need/want to switch maps easily. I haven't been able to get anyone to answer the phone at speed industry so I guess I'll try back tomorrow...

i think it is worth the $$ especially if you have to take it back to the dealership(would be a pain to have to take it back to the tune show to have it re-flashed). basically just read the features it comes with from Cobb's website and decide for yourself.(ive used valet mode once when i had some brake work done; it works well and it is funny, basically turns your car into a fast civic)

also +1 for Jan(pronounced "Yan", fancy sounding) and Tony at speedindustries
