Default Auto X at Keys Stadium in Frederick.

I drove by the Auto X being held at the Frederick Keys stadium over the weekend and I saw a couple Subarus. I believe there was a blue WRX wagon bugeye, a 04-05 silver STi, and an older 2.5RS.

I was just curious if any of the attendees posted here. I've never been to any auto x events or driven auto x. It looked like a good time.

Anyone here?

I just replied to your spotting thread suggesting you should come out.

Most of the guys you saw likely post over on Nasioc. If you've never autocrossed before, you should definitely consider doing one of the CDC events. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and everyone is extremely helpful (very noob friendly).

Just check out Capital Driving Club and navigate over to the schedule section and consider signing up for the next event.

The registration is currently only open to members and guests, so if you're interested, I can put you down as a guest. Just let me know.

I'll get around to going to one of these one day. I only live like 5 min from the stadium.

I have an inferiority complex with my car. I feel like everyone else that owns one drives theirs better than me. I need classes or something. I'm no manual noob or anything, but I have no racing experience. Unless you count gran turismo and forza

Wolfplayer, you're an ECU tech? So if I want a pro tune, I could come see you? Where about do you live? I haven't seen you around.

I live in Frederick and work on Ft. Detrick. '05 CGM, wingless, smaller WRX hood scoop, debadged trunk, APS black FMIC. I'm always around (lol) ... mainly on route 26, route 15 and interstate 70.

I am more into teaching people how to tune their own cars than actually tuning their cars for them. I have enough to deal with at home and with my job such that I definitely don't want to have to worry about customer support due to Tuning other people's cars. Thus, I do what I can to help people tune their own cars and to teach them the ropes.

Yeah, its as noob friendly as it gets. Cheap, easy to get to for most people in the area and they are really flexible. So if you have stuff in the afternoon you need to do you can just do the morning runs and they usually give you an extra if you choose to do that.

There are always people willing to drive your car/ride with you in the car and help you out. And many of these drive subarus. Also, there is usually good food (sometimes even stuff like etoufee (sp?)), free drinks, and a rented portajon.

There are plenty of rental helmets and all you really need to do to be ready is register on the site, take the loose objects out of your car, put a little more air in your tires, and show up early. Members get to register earlier...but so do guests (PM me if you are serious about being there).

Gran Turismo is a great tool! It helped me grasp the concept of how a good line plays a major role in shaving seconds.

Seriously though, you shouldn't feel like you need classes or racing experience to participate in these events. Think of them as a driver improvement course. You'll quickly learn what your car is capable of while testing its limits in a safe environment.

You'll even have some of the more experienced guys offer to ride along with you to give you advice.

I feel like a salesman.

Robot, I'll see you on the 20th.
