Default Ackits 2000 RSTi

I've been trolling for awhile and have learned a lot here and decided that i should post a journal while im doing my build so here it is. Thanks for looking!

Journal:
I purchased this car over winter break, I had been searching for a Subaru and figured I would go with a WRX wagon but searching for some used cars on auto trader I came across this 2000 RS coupe. I had always loved the GC body styles. And once I saw the pictures I had remembered seeing it around my town. And the owner was a friend of mine that I had gone to school with since grade school. After talking with him and working it all out the car became mine. It was swapped at Rallitek performance and had the VF22 turbo, intake and exhaust already on when I purchased it but I still had big plans. After daily driving it the 60 min round trip to school with the weekend drag races I started doing more and more to the car. I switched from the AVO Catted down pipe and catback exhaust to the Perrin Catless downpipe and HKS Catback. I also added sways, endlinks, as well as a Cobb ap. The first major problem arose when my friend and I headed to Olive Garden. The car seemed to be flooding itself at the stoplight and smoke was pouring out of the exhaust. I managed to keep it alive long enough to pull into the nearest parking lot and immediately shut it off and called AAA for a tow. The car was towed to rallitek and they attempted to diagnose the problem. After weeks of not having my car because the car would seem to fix itself and then start flooding again the problem was tracked down to a blown ECU. Which fixed the problem for a short while. It started again. Frustrated that my car was down again I took it to another shop and they tracked it down to wires grounding out in the harness. With that fixed I added the Cobb AP and a 60mm Apexi Boost Gauge. I continued to drive the car with an occasional drag race on the weekends. In the middle of my last term of college I went home for the weekend and started hearing a odd ticking sound. It seemed like nothing, I checked the oil and everything seemed fine because it stopped. The next day I went to town and it started up again. But this time it was a lot worse, It was something no one wants at all, I had a really bad rod knock. After running it by friends that knew more about it than me it was 99% sure that I had some bad bearings which I think was caused from the fuel that had gotten mixed into my oil for the brief periods of time we had the car running to diagnose the problems. So right now, the car is dismantled with big plans. That’s the main reason I’m starting this journal so I can keep people posted on my build, which right now I have the engine out and almost completely disassembled. I’m picking up a lot of new parts and yes, a bigger turbo. I’m going with a UR T3/T04E Turbo with custom up and down pipes as well as intercooler pipes. I have a list of parts that are going on as well as some other things I will be doing and I will update as I go. There is still things I'm sure that I will think of doing and just surfing I'm getting more and more ideas.

Very nice...I love those RS's with the body lines...sooo clean. Good luck on the build. I would advise to go with the TiAL BOV....its one of the best ones on the market. What TiAL Wastegate you going with? 44mm? As far as the ACT flywheel, get the Streetlite, not the Prolite one that weighs 9lbs. The Streetlite is about 14'ish lbs and would be better for you for driving the car everyday. Also, to shave some weight, but I don't know if it will work with your setup (dimensions and all), look up the ACPT Carbon Fiber Driveshaft, or Driveshaft Shop (aluminum) to shave some weight on transfering the power.

Thats the flywheel i had been told to go with, and i was thinking about the tial BOV and i think ill be going with the 38mm wastegate, but im not sure yet. I dont think ill be running enough power to need the 44mm but i might get it just in case i go with a 35 in the future.

I have heard that the 38mm TiAL EWG had problems, but they fixed it...I think it had to do with the internal parts or something. The 44mm is the way to go incase you ever go bigger turbo.

Thats what im thinking, because im sure this car will end up with at least a 35. My friend thats helping me build it has a GT4088R in his L so im sure he will talk me into something bigger haha.
