haha, thanks! I wasnt launching the car, didnt feel like breaking anything considering my recent past. I'm usually good for at least 1-2 1.6x 60ft everytime I hit the track. I think the car would come close to running a 10 sec pass on pump gas.

^ i realize a corvette comes with a stigma attached to it, however I am a big fan of 600whp with a bolt on supercharger on pump gas, haha! so far, I havent been able to find any manual transmission corvettes, not really sure if I'm going to actually fit. I have sat in 2 C6 Z06's, barely fit, and there is no room if i ever had to wear a helmet.

I'm really undecided right now. My STi is going to be sold tomorrow ):

And Sti/Evo's don't? You gotta be kidding me...at every street light, there is a teenager drooling, or revving his car, or some Porsche/Audi/BMW owner giving me the snob once-over, or a truck driver giving me a thumbs up (or the finger).

You drive any recognized performance car and the only difference is the type of "look" you get.

The taste of power is mighty good. I know either way you'll choose a great car - I wasn't being 100% serious about the whole stigma thing, but I've got this thing against them mainly from the local clown's that drive them in my parts.
Good luck with the decision, and I must add to the rest of the guys who say they'll be sad to see your STi go.

Not kidding you at all.

I guess it's the kind of look you "want" to get. I think it's my age shining through here (and a stereotype I've built around them), but when I think Vette, I think gold chains, an exposed hairy chest, and a ferocious mullet.

I'd rather get the "you're a boy racer in a riced out car" look than the "I wonder if there's olive oil actually in his hair" look

I'm just playing around, but you know what I mean. Yeah every car/driver has a stigma or look attached to it - it's just what I associate with American muscle cars. Sorry

Ditto, no need to apologize. I've been getting the "look" for a long, long time because of some of the cars I've driven. As Gable said, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

Let 'em eat cake.

It is also worth noting that the Corvette community is more 'mature', and is full of engineers, lawyers, and doctors, possibly dictated by the base price of these cars. There are also so many threads about 'divorce', which is, apparently, an important subject for Corvette owners :P Most say, if you know you will get divorced, sell your car to your best friend, sell your house, sell your boat, donate your money

Vettes are geezer cars or owned by people that don't have a clue about cars.

That is all I got to say.

What about the Audi S5-pure sex! (and a geezer car?) LOL I so contradict myself.

I don't know why you would get rid of your STi and then say you might get an '08! Wah?

So messing with you bro. Good luck with whatever.

No audi's, even though they are very nice cars. I want something I can beat on without costing me a testicle to replace parts. I agree that corvettes are a far cry from a scooby, however 1 ride in a supercharged vette and you'll quickly change your mind.

as far as replacing my sti with an 08, I'm looking for something that is going to be low maintanence and trouble free. my sti is borderline race car, driveability is decent, but I want to go back to a stock ecu and stock gearbox. I'd probably go with a UR 30r kit next time around. although, as much as i love sti's, I know that it will take a good 20k invested into the car for me to be content, just dont want to do that right now.

^The thing most people forget is the only time you see the outside of your car is when you walk up to it to get in.

The S5 is a nice machine... but I couldn't get one knowing a RS5 was going to be available, or even having the RS4 out. I'm still trying to talk my old man into one.

Heh, there's another developer here in town with an RS4. He really does not like my car. The last trip over the pass, we met up and cruised together for all of about 2 miles until I'd had enough. It was over quickly, and he's never forgiven me.

RS4 owners are deluded into thinking their cars are fast. True, they are fast for a lxuo-brand factory car, but their McDonald's diet doesn't help. I've had to humble a few on the track myself. Even with upgraded swaybars, they're not going anywhere fast in the corners.

I'd still take one in a second though.

I went and drove a new C6 Z06, it was an amazing car! I fit with no problems, but had about 1 inch of head room, which means driving with a helmet with be a problem.

I think i have decided to hold off on buying a brand new ls3, and look for a low mileage 07 model. I have found 07's with less than 10k for upper 30's, whereas the new 08 with cost 50k. this is going to be a night/weekend car, so it's just not a great idea to buy a 50k car, especially one that my wife and child cant ride in.

anyway, I'll let you guys know if the sti sells tomorrow. the new owner is either wiring the $ or overnighting a check tomorrow. hate to sell my sti, but I'm ready to move on.

That doesn't surprise me. I'm just under 6'4", and those cars feel pretty snug to me too. I didn't like having to duck down to see a traffic light.

This is one area my 5'11" short length helps me I guess. I have ample space up top

I'm pretty set on buying a vette. just cant decided between the ls2 or ls3. the ls3 is a bit expensive, but the advantages might be worth it. the ls2 is in the right price range, but wont make as much power with a supercharger as the ls3. ls2's seem to make 520-540, whereas the ls3's make 600whp+ on the same boost level (7psi).

I'm not in a big hurry, gonna take my time to decide. I realize this may disappoint some of you guys, but i will always be a scooby guy at heart. I'm keeping my 08 spec b as my daily driver, i have no plans of vanishing from the community.
