IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | very long story....basically i had a catastrophic failure, a brand new dogbox tranny grenaded and took out my motor (cobb tuner series block/heads). It was a freak accident, my new dogbox is flawless. anyway, the replacement tranny took about a month to build, didnt realize the motor was toast until i installed the 2nd dogbox. then, i ordered a stage 5 block from axis, took about 60 days to build. once we were gonna install the heads/cams, ron wasnt impressed with my cobb heads, so I started over with a new set. the p&p took another month because ron outsources that service. once the motor shipped to topspeed, it took another 5 months to get everything installed and the bugs worked out. we had numerous problems with my hydra, as well as a few other items, fueling, non avcs stuff, etc. before all of those issues, i had a problem with my car breaking up in high boost. it took us several months to figure it out. turned out, i had a defective utec and possibly had problems with my ecu. also, i ran into several time consuming issues with axles, clutch, fueling problems. etc, etc. I'm not stupid enough to say I'm past all of my problems, however my car should be 100% at the end of this week. the motor and tranny are sheer sweetness, shouldnt have any issues with my rear diff, axles, clutch. I can forsee an upgraded front/center/rear diff in the winter, not too concerned with that right now as long as i can hit the track on nov 11th. after i make a 10sec pass then a huge weight will be lifted off my shoulders. I'll focus on simply driving the car for fun, instead of being hellbent on accomplishing a personal goal. wish me luck, cause i need it. |

I can't even imagine the looks you get with that kinda power. When I was making 400whp/410wtq on the TopSpeed meth tune on my old STi I gave a couple friends rides and banged through the gears with them. They were literally speechless. They would get out of the car and when they would finally speak they would be like, "OMG, that is the fastest car I've ever rode in.... Are you SURE that's a 4 cylinder car??????" Long time no speak. Hopefully all is well for you Austin.

I'm going to limp her off the line the first few pass's, get the hang of shift points, stab the brakes before the finish line to avoid getting booted. it sure would be nice to make a 10sec pass without having to launch, tired of breaking stuff.

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | I JUST WONT END!!!!!!!!! I cant get any breaks (no pun intended)..... I installed my r180 and everything was perfect! I decided to take the car to the dealership for a few maintanence items as well as getting a 2nd set of eyes under my car before the retune next week. After a clean bill of health, I picked the car up last night. on my way home, I proceeded to obliterate a mushtang cobra (96-98model), numerous times. it was a nice little warm up for a sat evening. after exiting the highway, I managed to find myself behind a cobra 427 (replica) with a 408 stroker. this muther was saweeeet! he was gunning it beside of me, almost like he was picking on me. I was seriously impressed and for the first time I 2nd guess'd my cars ridonkulous exceleration, haha! we ended up pulling over, had a chat, dug each other's ride, and decided to go from a 30mph roll. DOOD, it was ugggglyy, I laid a smack down like no other, the look on his face was PRICELESS, ahaha! He admitted he had never been drug like that before. to give you an idea.....one of my good friends has a 540whp sti/stock motor/UR35R kit/TopSpeed tune..... <---- he and I made a few highway pulls one evening after leaving the track......I put about 3-4 bus lengths on him from 30-100mph (starting in 1st gear in teh dogbox, 2nd gear for a stock sti), hehe! ok, back to my story ): . after thumping the 427 cobra, i went for one last 1-2nd clutchless shift, and I discovered I have a new problem. My car coasted to a dead stop, completely lifeless to clutch and tranny manuevers. engine is 110%, no worries, but my drivetrain is crumbling. here's where I need your help! See if you guys are smart enough to diagnose my problem before the local suby dealer, haha! here are my symptoms: My car is not responding to gear/clutch interaction. I can put my car in gear, with or without using a clutch at a dead stop motor on. It will not move, regardless of auto or dcd mode, clutch isnt grabbing, etc. I have zero drivetrain sound, no crunching/twisting/rotating of any sound at all. There was no sound when it went into failure. It happened between shifts, going from 1st to 2nd.....basically I shifted and the car coasted to a dead stop, engine purring like a......crazy cammed subaru. my money (literally) is on the center diff, or clutch. I pray to teh subaru gods that it is not my dogbox. I need a quick discovery, and recovery. I do not plan on missing the import showdown next sunday. So, let's hear your thoughts! |
