IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2007 Trader Rating: (5) | Personally have seen a new Z06 run 11.5 @ 127, bone stock, stock run flats. Then on slicks he went 10.7, stock. Unreal car. Extremely fast. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | ^ i need a little more practice, rwd v8 is just a little diff than awd turbo. I will definitely improve the next few times, expect mid/upper 11's in the low/mid 11's. |

I am going to do a cam/headers, cai, ported throttle body and intake manifold. that should put me in the 550-57-whp range, good enough to run mid 10's in the mid 130's.

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | I figure I'd give you guys an update on my Z... I cannot 60ft this muther for my life!!!!!!!!!! I have been to 2 diff dragstrips and cant do better than a 2.0. I have run 4 12.0's at 121mph with 2.0/2.1 60ft. She is still bone stock, however that is getting ready to change. I have a katech cam/springs/retainers, harland sharp rocker arms, killerbee cold air intake, 160 thermostat, and the american racing longtube headers. I should go from 450whp---->535whp+. Anyway, the Z is lethal from a roll. I have recently administered some colossal azz beatings!!! I met up with my friend that owns an 07 Shelby GT500 that has a ported blower and upper/lower pullies. He dyno'd earlier today at 565whp/563tq. We met up at the dragstrip, but he did not run his car. there was a bone stock gt500 was there running 13.8's at 108mph, booo! the 565whp GT500 and I went 3 times from 45mph-140mph. Basically, our cars are dead even till 100mph, then I began to slowly walk away. I held 1 car length to 140 on 2 of the runs, the other I gave him the jump and I had a hard time reeling him in till dangerous speeds. I was pretty shocked to see my bone stock Z outrun a 565whp Shelby GT500, just barely though. Before the Shelby saw my tailights, I had some fun with an 08 M5. he and I had raced earlier in the night at the dragstrip, here's the vid YouTube - 2008 C6Z bone stock vs 2008 M5 with catback. Anyway, the m5 and I went from a 45mph roll, and da Z laid teh smack dizzle, haha! The 08 M5 was trapping 116mph all night, compared to my 121mph, not to mention he weighs 4,000lbs (V-10 500hp). Still a very impressive car, he ran 12.4-12.5 all night. A few weekends ago I was out driving, met up with a friend that has a 6.0 GTO with 175 shot + exhaust, we went from 45-125mph 3 times. He hung for about a second, haha! then it was over, and I mean over. An SS camaro joined us all 3 of those races, he was spraying a 125shot + exhaust, and he got beat even worse...all 3 times. The only other worthy candidate worth mentioning is my friends 506whp STi (stock block 35r + meth). My feeling were hurt.....I beat him so bad I felt sorry for teh wittle scooby, ): . I was actually letting the STi get the bump at whatever speed he wanted, and it was only a matter of seconds before I yanked bus lengths on him. So, I miss my subarus, but my Z is a f'ing animal. btw, check out my new tags... Slideshow of Z06 slideshow - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Last edited by burnin4; 06-06-2008 at 11:18 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | sti's are nasty, from a launch. as long as sti's stay in their powerband they are very fast cars. however, the z makes instant torque, has long gearing, and aerodynamics. the gears in the sti are just too short to race from a roll. in the z, 1st gear goes to 60mph+, 2nd gear to low 80's, 3rd 120, and I've never been man enough to redline 4th but it's 150mph+. the little bit of lag in an sti with a 35r will automatically give up a car+ compared to a Z, and then it's too hard to recover from. however, at the strip a 35sti will give my Z a hard time (stock). IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | I wish I still had my Vette so we could run. No doubt I would beat your @ss at the strip since I was pulling low 11's at altitude. I never got a chance to race a C6 Z from a roll, I bet it would have been pretty interesting. I thought that C6 Z's were putting down a lot more than 530 whp with just a cam swap, I was thinking it was in the upper 500's. Anyway, enjoy your new upgrades! |

I went with a mild cam, the katech torquer cam. depending on the dyno, it should put down 530-550whp. it's strickly a mid range cam, good enough to trap in the low 130's on run flats. one of my good friends has a brand new 08 LS3 Z51, and it has an ECS paxton novi kit, we will be racing very soon. His car will be finished this week, waiting on a bigger pulley to arrive. his car should make 550whp+, possibly closer to 580whp on 7psi. We'll see how I do bone stock, then with my cam and bolt ons. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes.

IWSTI Addict since: Aug 2004 Trader Rating: (3) | excellent! the 08's have an upgraded suspension, and the handling is spectacular. I have the npp bi mode exhaust and a remote key fob that opens and closes a flap in the mufflers. I can easily talk on the pnone with the a/c and radio on when the flaps are closed, very nice driveability for such a potent beast. the brakes are awesome as well, 6 piston calipers in the front and 4 in the rear. I cant wait to have all of my parts installed, should be around the end of June. |
