Volks are still here, not many pictures. SSR will be daily driven wheels and considering the following tires in 255/40/17:

1. Falken RT-615, $124x4= $496, very resonably priced
2. Bridgestone RE-01R $221x4= $881, a bit pricey but some people swear by these
3. OEM Bridgestone RE070 $216x4= $864, super stiff sidewalls but never tried them
4. Advan Neovas $245x4= $980, balling SUPER tires

Honestly, if I were to buy bridgestones I might as well fork over a little bit more and go for Neovas. Now is the question to go cheap with Falkens or spend twice as much on Neovas...

I had that issue when I bought my RG-IIs, I decided that if I was spending [RE-01Rs] I may as well be balling [AD07s] or go RT-615 and save a bunch of cash. With no one to provide really hardcore support for the Falkens locally, I went Advan and must say I haven't exactly looked back.

Default Tire information

Wheels will be picked up tomorrow from Amnesiac but weather is not going to be nice for my long drive to Alabama.

Anyhow to add to confusion I found yet another tire to consider: Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, something a bit different than standard Z1s. Priced@ $161x4= $644 with $50 mail in rebate available through tire-rack, very well priced I might say. But there is suspension that these are going to be the same compound as RT-615 made by Sumitomo, referenece drawn from the same manufacturing codes on the tire, numbers behind DOT codes according to the SCCA board suggested.

We had a good discussion on the local subaur board: wrxatlanta tire discussion and some interesting reads and links on th tire:

Default Ssr Gt2

On Saturday morning I made the journey to Auburn to pickup my JDM bling, but man was it a pain the neck. For some reason Georgia DOT decides to repave 30 miles of Interstate 85 staring from just north of Atlanta so 8 lanes merged down to 2. 35 minutes and 15 miles later, I finally made it through downtown Atlanta and a light drizzle started.

After an hour, the light turned heavier but Georgia highway surface was rugged and rough enough so that no rain water were being kicked up by tires. After seeing the sign "welcome to Alabama the beautiful" my drive stared to became this mess

taken with Nokia N95

Driving in water mist with urge to hurry up, I chug along and finally arrived in Tigertown. Then I saw a super JDM STi sitting in the parking lot waiting, rocking some gold Advan RG IIs on Advan Neovas and Amuse titanium exhaust, my day became much better despite the horrible weather. After talking to member Amnesiac/Randall, I got a test drive and and I must say the Amuss is the best exhaust sounding ever and the look on the welds of the muffler is just mind bogglingly clean. Too bad it was wet, didnt have a chance to test out those Advan Neovas Randalls was rocking.

Picked up my bling bling SSR GT2 and headed home. I got a bit hungry and craved for a Burger King double whopper, the charbroiled goodness. I looked for highway signs for food direction and I see endless golden arches of McDonald's, Arby's, Wendy's, Chipotle, Five Guys, KFC, I even say applebees but no Burger King. I thought maybe BK went cheap and didn't want to pay for the advertisement so I took a random exit and no luck. Eve through much of South Atlanta, still no Burger King, I started to get a bit annoyed and finally:

But I was almost home and the double whopper never tasted so good. Pictures of SSR will follow.

It was super nice to meet you Ethan, glad you made it down and back safely in the weather. Hopefully I can come meet up with some of the ATL crew over the summer. Thanks for your kind words on the car and enjoy those wheels!
