IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2004 Trader Rating: (2) | Hey, if you already have an STI you can stop reading If you are looking at getting an STI and can't seem to find a good deal pay attention (no pun intended) I just ordered mine and it seems like what I did would be a good idea for anybody else out there that is having a hard time getting a dealer to come down on price. First, I paid $31,350 with no options. IMO, that seems like a fair price. If others have done better I am jealous! I started my search in town and would expand my search to about a two hour drive maximum (What better way to stack up miles fast). The guys in town were offering it at sticker, which were 32,700. They thought they were doing me a favor! The second dealer in Peoria offered 2000 over sticker and thought they were hot sh#*! I then went to Subaru’s homepage and requested quotes from about five dealers (If you look for a stellar performer logo you stand a better chance). This took maybe 5 minutes to send out the message for a quote. People started emailing me/calling me and saying they would take off a couple hundred. A place about 1.5 hours away in Countryside, IL called and said they would sell it for sticker and I simply asked what the incentive was to drive all the way out there for the same price that I could get in town. He agreed and offered to make it an even 32,000. I was thinking 32,000 was a good deal. I told him I would give him my business and touch base with them later. When I searched my email for quotes that night one dealer in Naperville offered 31,850 and I was like great, it keeps getting better. The next day Countryside asked me if I was still interested. I simply stated that I just received a better offer and w/n a minute he says, "Okay, here is what I am going to do, I will give you the car for 31,350." For me, at that point it was an easy decision! Basically, I did not believe I would get a deal on this car like many of you think! I thought I would offer this up to let you know that you don’t have to go to the dealers and negotiating over email/phone does indeed work. I wish you all the best of luck! I know I have been waiting for a year and can’t wait to take ownership in the next week or two. Good luck, Michael This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

Its like lendingtree.com and the way they fight to give you a mortgage at a low interest rate. In this case the dealers would be glad to fight for your business because they make sooooooo much money on the accessories that they sell you. Once they got you in there for the car they will try to add on some accessories and then hope for you to come back for service which they make a killing on also. Thanks again for the advice. You are going to save me and a lot of other people some cash with this idea. |

| Amateur STI Driver | I paid 31,600. Mine had a few options, sticker was 33,545. It has armrest, auto dimming, locking lugs, and security upgrade. I called about 5 dealers, told them, im ready to purchase, just give me the best price. |

| Lurker | OK, so you may not be close to Victor, NY (outside of Rochester) but if you don't enjoy haggling with a dealership and want to get a fair price, check this out: http://www.vanbortelsubaru.com/impp3.html STi for $30,223. Like a Saturn dealership, there is no bargaining. The price is the price.[/url] |

| The Next Petter Solberg | I just paid invoice + 300 for an 05. The Sticker was about 33500 and I was out the door at 34500 in less than 1 hour. I live in the South SF bay area and all the dealers around here had HUGH mark-ups (one place was asking 10K over MSRP, I told the sales manager there that he should not smoke crack before he comes to work). I just kept watching all the local dealer inventorys (weekly) until I saw alot of STI's on the lot. I found one dealer with 18 STI's listed on there internet inventory and I shot them an e-mail. They replyed that I could have any one I wanted for invoice + 300. I looked up the invoice price on edmunds and when I went to the dealer the invoice he showed me was just a few dollars different, so I took it. I also got 2.9% financing. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | I did pretty much the same thing! I went to subaru's website and started emailing all the dealers. Slowly they would email me back with quotes, then I would attach the emails to replies back to other dealerships to see if they could be it. Finally, I started talking trade value for my Maxima. I did the same thing with attaching and repling till Matt Slap gave me what I wanted. Invoice for the '05 and 17,000 for my trade. The rest is history! This ad is not endorsed by this member.
