Right after I shifted, I hear loud "POP!!!!" and the engine revs fell. I put it out of the gear, and put it in 4th again, and the engine dies... So I put it out of gear, and coasted to a shoulder of the ramp. I was thinking, "Oh ****, maybe the rods let go... I thought the time would come but never expected to be this soon... " I tried to start the engine again, but it would start up and then die right after. So I call AAA and my friend, and my friend who was just hanging out with me and was on his way home came right by. We checked the underside of the car for oil, but there was nothing. Then we opened the engine bay, it was clean. I was thinking... "hmmm... this is weird." As I was searching for oil in the engine bay with a flashlight, I saw a hotside IC pipe popped off right before the fender!!!!! We put it right back in, and the car started right up. It idled a bit rough because of me trying to keep it alive when it was dying by giving it some gas, so I guess there was some gas that needed to burn off. After I gave it a quick rev-up, it ran like a champ just like it did before OMG, I was so relieved. My friend and I lit up a cigarette, laughed it off, and went home. Oh man, that was a scary moment. I really need to get those IC pipes bead rolled... Agile said they couldn't do it because they didn't have a bead rolling machine that can roll 16 gauge piping, but since I know of a place that can, I guess I'm just going to have them do it. Man, I'm so glad it wasn't a broken rod!!! I'm also glad this didn't happen while I was out on a track. Whew, I'm going to need some time to calm down before I go to sleep tonight

That happened to me before too and i thought my motor blew.....funny i read this

anyways, if you get stranded and cant get the pipe back on or need to limp down the road, unplug the MAF.....it will run and youll be able to drive it, no getting on it obviously but it allows you to at least drive it

What a rookie! a rod would sound like that if it went anyways, thats gonna be a common problem till you get them b rolled. nice set up, any plans for the track?

when you bead-roll, you should also add t-bolt clamps which should reduce the risk of a blown IC hose

Yeah try T-bolt clamps first and you probably won't even have to get the pipes bead rolled. Worm drives suck.

if the regular t-bolts doesn't work, try some spring loaded t-bolts

plus, wouldn't the pistons give out first before the rods? Lol, anyways good seeing it was just a scare, take care

Awesome you held your own. Looks like you need some race gas yourself!!! Than have a rematch

Now that I think about it... the pistons are the weak link not the rods Damn, this suits my username very well It did sound just like rods so that's why it crossed my mind first.

I'll give T-bolts a shot before getting the pipes bead rolled. Thanks for the suggestion, everyone.

I think I'll take it to a drag strip(I think that's what you meant by track) when I have a chance just to see what ET it would put down. I'll surely have an update with a timeslip when I do, but I don't know when since I'm not really into drag racing.

Just read your thread and build up- Car looks great and you have some of the mods I am getting ready to do...

Can you explain how you modified the Perrin Fuel Rails to fit the reverse mani?
I have the same fuel rails and I am planning to do reverse mani as well, for some reason it never dawned on me that I would have to modify the rails to fit if I was going to do both.

TIA

Just noticed my journal has been brought out of death

I have no idea what modifications are needed to the fuel rails... I guess you can PM Agile Auto on NASIOC and ask Hill about it. Hill just told me the fuel rails had to be modified and I didn't bother to ask the specifics of it. Sorry.

Yeah, just the front. I don't really like their sides or rear bumper. I'm just going to see how it looks with my current sides. For the rear, I'm planning on a Voltex diffuser so the JDM spats are staying on until I save up enough money
