Roy,

I know you wanted a comparison to my RCE T2s and my opinion about the coilovers...so here it is.

First and foremost, I do want to mention for those reading this, that my suspension is far more set-up than Roy's. He has just the Coilovers...check my journal out for the list of goods done to my car...

I thought my RCE T2s road very well from the get go. I really appreciated the added comfort day to day. I have ridden in sti's equipped with the RB320 kit, RCE Yellows, Koni/Prodrive, and Cusco's. I felt my set-up was a great balance between overall aggressive street driving/comfort and performance on track. As of now, I wouldn't change one thing about my suspension. I love it! Turn-in is crisp, car is VERY neutral and rotates nicely and progressively and handles like it's on rails.

Post-install of Roy's KWs, I went ahead and told him to drive around and tell me how things felt, if there were any excess noises, etc. etc. He came back with a big smile on his face and somewhat disbelief about the ride quality in his car now. I took him for a drive in my car and he told me it was a bit firmer than his. So, I hopped in his car and drove around...

The KWs have awesome comfort. I was surprised by the "Euro-like" feeling the car had. It was VERY comfortable. I know that KW's Rear Progressive VS my RCE Linear set-up along with Roy's Group-N rear strut tops VS my RCE Rear Pillow-balls contribute A LOT to the comfort level of the ride. I had Group-N's in the rear before RCE Came out with the current rear pillowballs, and just swapping out to those made a noticable ride difference...to me at least and it definitely tightened up the rear and added some nice direct feeling from the back of the vehicle.

I didn't really go to crazy with his car when I drove it for the obvious reasons, but also because of the lack of alignment. Overall, the handling was improved nicely compared to stock and I could only assume it getting MUCH better with more mods done and a corner bal./align done.

I think the KWs are awesome for the level of comfort they offer, BUT I do not like the rear progressive spring in the rear. Remember this is only MY opinion, but you just don't get that same level of "directness" feeling from the rear that you would from a linear set-up. This would very noticable on track. That's not to bash on the KWs because they are an AWESOME coilver and to remedy this "progressive" problem perse. RCE has a kit to convert to a linear rear , but as I said earlier, they are VERY VERY comfortable.

I would recommend this set-up to anyone who seeks comfort, but I would also recommend RCEs lowest rate T2s because I'm sure they offer the same level of comfort, or at least VERY close to, whilst still offering a very track worthy set-up. Also, with the different valving RCE has done to the T2s, it offers a wide range of room for different spring rates...so if comfort is your thing now, but down the road you decided to get competative, well the RCE T2s would just need a spring swap and bingo! There you have it.

All in all, I was very pleased with the KWs and I know Roy is very happy with them as well. RCE T2s or KW V3s, you can't really go wrong...especially being that they are within the same vicinity as far price goes...ultimately it comes down to what you want to spend and what your goals are for your car...my goals were to have a very streetable, track-worthy vehicle...and I think with my current set-up I've reached nirvana.

Happy Motoring!

Kind Regards,
Ryan

Thanks!! I agree with everything you said. It do feel softer and kind of like a club kit on the rear. I do think this is the reason why the car feel so much more comfortable going via bump, railroad track and stuff like that. My last car was a Miata. Before I got the coilover I feel really uncomfortable on making big turns and I will have to keep adjusting while im turning, also the turn out is just bad & slow and dont even talk about the bodyroll. With the coilover now my car feel on rail on big turns, come out way smooth just like my Miata and still have little bodyroll but I will put on some sway bars later . I dont know if that got to do anything with the softer spring on the back or not. Also on crazy shape turn the rear need to be stiffer for sure. Anyway I will set to track/autox setting later to play around with it.

I bought this cause what I want is able to adjust ride height, adjust camber and still have good ride quality. It is a setup for my wheels. Also Im able to get them at my warehouse so it is cheap!

Ryan I will get the hardware on Monday night. I will call you up.

Did my fuel pump today. Is the stock fuel pump worth any money? I didnt use the new fuel filter so I guess I will sell them together.. any idea how much I should sell it for?

This is what I still have.

If you want to see how it fit you can come to City of industry. Thats me and my friend shop. We do internet sales on ebay & website and that is where we work at and package stuff. When we got a lift already and need to hire a installer than we will still doing some installation and stuff.

The Voltex cover the whole APR. Both fit so well together is almost like is made for it. No trimming at all. Have to add 3 new holes one on each side and 2 right in the middle on the APR. My Voltex stick out more and it sit lower in the middle because it suppose to be mounted on the stock diffuser holes but mine mounting on the APR.

Whoring out pictures for our Voltex club. hehe. Actually all 3 of us have different height.

Mine! with APR having the biggest gap.

Henry's with no added diffuser have the less gap.

Sean's with stock diffuser. Black on black the sickest!

Soon I will go up to Norcal and meet them both and take a picture with all 3 cars sitting together.

Try Garagespec.com Eddie. They are the only one in the US stocking Voltex. If they sold out you will have to wait 3-4 months to get one and is not cheap. They might have one left. Good luck.
