maximus - hmm...I never thought about that, but for my purposes, the stock alarm is sufficient.

Vendetta - So far so good with my reception. I would be skeptical about doing a strip on the windshield though exactly for that reason...just IMO.

blacknight - The seat is awesome. It isn't installed yet, but I have sat in it numerous times. It is a very tight yet comfortable fit. I am 6' 3" 175 lbs. The seat is a Sparco Evo (also comes in Evo 2 and Evo 3, although I don't think the evo 3 will fit in our cars).

Default Re: rear squeaking noise please help! - amg destroyer

Ok, I don't have anything new installed to update my journal with, but today when I was driving home, I noticed that I have a fairly apparent squeaking noise coming from the back left (extremely hard to tell where it's coming from though) when I turn the wheel left, going uphill. It also occurs at other random points that do not have any pattern. It just always happens with even the slightest turn of the wheel to the left going uphill. I know that our car has lots of creaks and squeaks, etc, but I am just curious about this as it does not sound very good and has never occurred before. It probably isn't any big deal, but I am just wondering about it. The car has about 18,200 miles on the odometer, if that helps, with completely stock suspension and drivetrain.

I wanted to post in my journal about this first, in case it is a common occurrence (yes I did a brief search), and I don't want to be flamed for making a new thread.

I hope all of this makes sense, and sorry if this is a noob question.

Today I installed my Sparco Evo seat with the help of my buddy who owns a M3 sc'ed (m3jedi77 on here). It was not the easiest thing I have ever done...let's just put it that way. First, the airbag and seat belt wires for the sensors were a major PITA to disconnect. Then, once we had the seat in the car, we found that the sliders were too short for the model specific base. When I picked the hardware up at Sparco, I specifically specified that this was for an '05 STi...obviously someone made a mistake in getting the right parts. So we pulled the seat again and were about to start drilling to make the sliders fit, but I figured that I would just run the seat w/o sliders for now, and exchange for the correct ones some other time, instead of hacking up a perfectly good base. Sooo...we got the seat installed successfully, but the shoulder rubs against the a-pillar, and interferes with the seat belt "ingress and egress," but that will be fixed when I get the sliders, as the seat has to be a little farther forward, and when I get harnesses later this week (don't flame ...only used for canyons, etc.). Also, my damn airbag light is on. I even bought the 3.3 ohm resistor from sojdm.com, but I think I installed it incorrectly. Can anyone describe to me exactly how it should be installed?? But all in all, I am very satisfied with the install and how it holds me in the car, but also can't wait to get the minor things ironed out. So enough of my saga that I just wrote - here are some quick pics I took of the finished product.

just stick each end of the resistor inside each end of the airbag sensor harness and tape it up. before you tape it up i'd just check and make sure its working.

Thanks, I saw a diagram on Nasioc too, so I will try this either later tonight or tomorrow.

thanks but I am not 100% sure about that fact because I can't get any good info on it since it is imported. That's just what I have heard. Probably will just go with the APS 3.5 tbe when I get a turbo upgrade.

Default Re: AMG Destroyer: couple new goodies

This weekend I installed a few minor things on the car. First, I painted and mounted my new angled license plate bracket, as found in the "how-to" section.

Then today, I did the quick install of a new Autospeed dead pedal. The quality of this thing is much better than what I imagined. It's just too bad I have to put my foot on it

(sorry for the dirty car...)

I also fixed my Sparco seat today. As some of you may remember, I was having trouble with the fitment of it (it was hitting the a-pillar making it so the belt could not retract). I pulled the seat out of the car again, and drilled two new holes in the base so it can be mounted farther towards the center console. It's a tight fit, but now it works perfectly.

Small details ftw!

LOL! I had a similar problem at the track with my Recaro Speeds. Come to find out, the bracket bolts were coming out. I tightened them and now I don't do laps around the driver's compartment!

Looking good!
