Default (My 2005) 4/2 - 90k miles and counting. How do I remove Poll??

Well it's time for me to finally get a journal started. I've been with this site from the time before I purchased my STi in Nov of 2004 in which I was recommended to buy form Becker Subaru in Allentown, PA.

Nov, 2004 - I paid $30,500 for my baby with 6 miles on her, I was a happy man till later that night when I got home to where I was living at the time in Clifton, NJ and found that under the street lights my paint job was covered in swirl marks . Well I saved alot of money but at a cost . All they said was that they would re-wax it.. I re-waxed it myself.. Thanks to some swirl remover I get the swirls out but it only last for so long.. I recommend Poorboys or Zaino swirl removers.

These are the oldest shots of my car I could find, May, 3 2005 right after I put the new wheels on : ) Holy wheel gap!

So what were the issues you had if any as the mile increased? I've had my 05 for a little over 2 years but only have about 10,000 miles (I split time with the Camaro) and have absolutely ZERO mechanical, cosmetic, electric problems, etc. Thanks.

No real serious issues besides my stock clutch going at around 35k miles and also the front caliper bolts that were siezed up and broke when I had to do a cv boot repair. All but one bolt on the front broke because of being seized up inside the caliper bracket . I installed helicoils using my buddys mill to drill out the calipers but installed a Brakeman setup anyway. I'll talk about the brake setup more later in this Journal when I get up to date. I also just did a warm compression test and pulled 135 psi across all cylinders, I think this is still within factory limits. Any other problems I've had were after I upgraded the 2nd stock clutch. I've been dealing with a lean idle/ rich WOT since then but I think I'm close to sorting it out.
I keep the oil changed on a regular basis and always check it on fillups, never burn more than half a quart in 3,000 miles, I use Amsoil 0w30 series 2000. I think these cars will reach 100,000 miles no problem if u take care of them well. We'll see maybe I can reach 100k before I put her down for a rebuild.

I've got 97,000 on my 05 STi. No problems at all. Regular oil changes, I started with Synthetic oil at 1000 miles and it hardly goes through any oil. I think these things are built to last.

Awesome. Considering that almost all STIs aren't exactly driven like Camrys...

I'm calling Pennsylvania, where the deer and the... other deer.... play. If I don't see a dozen of them strolling around during my morning commute I think something is wrong. There is even one park near here where those @#$%^ bambis have learned to "stop, look and listen" before they step onto the road. I kid you not.

Who tuned it? Sounds like you tune it yourself. Please, tell us everything you know! Obviously, what you know could be a huge help to the community and save alot of people alot of money and pain. I only got 49k out of mine with a 20G before the ring lands were gone.

Sorry but the obvious answer is the wrong answer, although your very right about the damn deer here ironicly I ran over a deer down in MD on 270 going into Potomac. On a damn 6 lane highway I manage to run over a deer and rip it's stomach open with my durable whiteline front swaybar and cover my entire underbody with guts and grassclippings . It was a smelly trip for the remainder of it. Lucky nothing was damaged.

Well I have been tuned by 3 different tuners so far and am now trying to tune myself. Everything I've learned is from this site and Christian from cobb with his guides and worksheets he posts up for the community. When I changed my setup over to the sz55 last June I made the trip down to Agile and was tuned by Gadiel, I made 360whp and the same for torque while running a cat. I will post more about that later with the dyno graph I have. Like I said earlier though the car hasnt been running as well since I did my clutch back in oct. I started another thread about it but nobody really replied so I kinda gave up on here for any advice. I think I got any mechanical issues I had worked out though and the rest is up to tuning out my increased airflow, that being headers and TGV deletes. I'm just waiting on a replacement wideband o2 sensor for my LC-1 now. Then I might have to install my APS 70mm Intake and tune it because I know I am about at my MAF's limits. Broken ringlands here we come! haha jk

Default Re: (My 2005) 85,000 miles and still goin strong!

Well I need to get more commited to updating my journal but as u can see I'm now at alittle over 85,000 miles with my sz55 setup. I tune my car myself now using Cobb's streettuner and Enginuity, I'm so proud of myself haha . I use Innovates XD-16 setup to tune as well and will be installing Maddad's new Ultra series gauges this weekend so I can monitor EGT's along with other things. For boost control I run an AVC-R and a 44mm EWG which I totally recommend. I'll try and post a couple of logs soon. Also I had to switch out the APS 65mm for a 70mm as I maxed the maf out very quickly with the 65mm. I'm in the process of swapping my current Perrin equal length header and Ultimate racing uppipe setup for a p&p stock manifold w/ Grimspeed's crossover and soon to be released externally gated uppipe. Check out a couple pics of the progress I've made with the porting and polishing, I'm impressed in how its turning out so far, what do u guys think?

I'll post some more when I'm finished and list the tools I used.
