i seriously hate my brain... it always likes to interject with thoughts of "you don't need this car, its a money pit and not a good idea to keep" and then my assdyno is like "jesus dude r u retarded you HAVE to keep this car is so sick".... ugh... anyway im putting up a poll to see if people think i should trade my gold wheels back for silvers...

edit ok the poll option seems to be MIA... just post up opinions

Having a CGM on Silver I am biased, I think silver is best on our color, but the gold looks good too.

Default Re: Chaos's 05 STi: small update 7-11-07 post 102

just an update on where i stand currently....at this point i am looking into the future of my car... trying to evaluate costs and things of that nature... ive owned the car for a year now as of july 15th... and im getting into the "long haul" haha... im sure the idea to sell will pop into my head.. ive actually made a for sale sign for when im mad at my car haha anyway...

ive decided to break the modding into "projects" to make things easier to manage for myself... heres a list of the projects ive got slated... ill talk about what they include below...they are in no special order

1) interior -- over the year that ive come to terms with the fact that the interior just isnt what i want.... i sat in an STi limited interior last night (thanx coop!) at our weekly meet and i was blown away ... i loved how everything was dark and i also loved how comfortable the seats were... but there-in lies a problem, comfortable seats USUALLY cant hold a guy my size for ****... ive been contemplating EVO 9 seats... cause they have way better bolstering... but i also really like the way Recaro SR-11's look... i definitely want black/dark carpet... and different/dark door cards... the headliner isnt much concern but it would be cool to have the same color as the rest of the car... i also want to upgrade the stereo system... my "stock" speakers sound great so im almost wondering if they are aftermarket (door cards have never been off while ive owned it)... so i think a basic upgrade would be nice for me... in-dash nav (avic d3 or z1/2).. i also just want one 12" sub ... audio integrations makes a super cool sub box that goes into the drivers side corner of the trunk (http://www.audiointegrations.citymax.com/Home.html) and they also make a really nice amp rack ... i dont want anything crazy... just clean looking stuff... ive also considered going the complete opposite way with the interior and getting the light tan wrx limited interior.... just to be a bit different...anyway those are just some ideas

2) Paint -- i am discouraged about my repaint idea becuase ive been told that it just wont look OEM and will definitely decrease any resale value... i just get tired of the CGM because other people have it... and it makes it that much harder to be different...and at $12k plus cost of uber cool jdm parts its gonna be a tiny bit more... maybe ill hit the lottery... i dont really want to show my plan but i want my car to look like the STi that subaru SHOULD have produced...

3)suspension -- im pretty much set on suspension... the ohlins/rce combo is performing very well... and the only step up i think i can go to is either T2's or ohlins C/O... probably flags ... ive considered adding some bracing as well...

4) engine -- the dreaded engine haha, currently the car makes a good amount of power.. but as we all know... we get tired of it and want more... im looking for that ultimate DD set up... and ive seen alot of rotated set ups that people drive everyday but i just dont think thats right for me... so ive concocted (sp?) a slight plan/set of ideas... 2.7l stroked twinscroll gt30r .83... rotated manifold set up... oil cooler in the scoop spot... because fogs>* haha... im hoping for the typical 4-500whp set up...im also wanting to run aftermarket AVCS cams, and high flow heads... it would also be nice for the motor to rev up to 8-9 grand as well haha... sounds like the perfect daily driving set up.. no? ... as for now... im leaving the engine alone until im set on what i want to do... i might do something here or there but i want to lead up to something big haha..

5)wheels -- i hate this topic... because im picky... i think the stock BBS's look nice... but since ryan from shades of gray got his car painted and used the gold bbs' ive decided they're coming off my car cause his looks better haha... so im going back to another set of silver ... i want to get a set of 18x 8+ wheels... wider the better haha ... i mean hell ive even thought running a widebody kit just so i can fit 10"+ wide wheels.. i love the stance of a car with some wide wheels...

ok so to recap, im broke and cant afford any of the **** i just talked about hahahaha. comments are always welcome.

I would definitely add in bushings galore and some bracing. These things are an amazing bang-for-the-buck and some (stiffer tranny mount) you'll need when making 400+wtq.

The x-brace is a must-have.

You also forgot brakes. What good is going fast if you can't stop?

ive got a good amount of bushings... the outrigger set up from TiC and the rear diff mount bushings... ive also got all the shift bushings including the pivot... which do you think i should add to that?... and i did leave out a few things as far as drivetrain goes... ill probably end up with a solid/hardened tranny mount... aluminum or CF driveshaft, lightened flywheel... and a SPEC clutch (ive had good luck with them in the past).... the Xbrace is on my list of stuff as well cause its WAY better than the BS tein bar i bought... i didnt have money for it so the tein filled the void... and for brakes... im planning on either getting DBA 2 peice 5000 series up front and 4000 out back... or getting the Spec C RA-R 6 pots up front haha... ballin! ... right now my track set up is pretty decent... OEM rotors with carbotech xp8s and SS lines... ill most likely need some cooling in the future but so far so good.... thanx for reminding me to talk about that stuff haha
