Surprising you have a rattle considering you had SnorkyTim helping out...

Hope you guys aren't confusing increased NVH for a rattle. There's definitely more tranny whine with the bushings in.

It's not the knob.

What are your thoughts?
I believe my rattle is coming from the revese lockout ring. It's not snug against the shift shaft and the minute play left in there is causing it to rattle. I shifted while holding the reverse ring firmly and the rattle was gone. Currently exploring fixes FTW.

That means your reverse lockout cable has some slack in it. Did you set the knob at the shortest shift and lowest height?

If so, it could also be your driveshaft hitting the slack of the reverse lockout cable. Did you tiewrap it away from the DS?

I also had a tie wrap at the base of my Cobb DA.

No, I do not believe it is the reverse cable on the DS. The reverse lockout ring is the cause.

It is not loose as far as the cable itself is concerned. It requires force to lift it, so the cable is taut.

It is loose on the shaft itself. Imagine being able to wiggle the ring side-to-side, but not up and down. This is where it's loose and is rattling.

Weird! I guess the top shaft is slightly narrower than stock on the version two

Possible. Since you didn't have this problem, it could be that the updated COBB has narrower shafts, or it could be that I borked the reverse lockout ring when I was removing the pin.

You said in the ESSO thread your reverse lights weren't coming on and you had difficulty getting into R. Is that still the case?

That makes me think that the reverse lockout cam on the transmission is not getting pulled properly by the cable. That's the only thing I can think of to explain the above two problems.

No no. That problem was solved Sunday. The shifter is in perfect working order. The ONLY remaining issue is the rattle.

I'd pulled too much of the reverse cable into the cabin.
