Nice! Can't say I had better things to do, but I've been fighting a huge headache. It's to the point where I'm downing 4 Motrin every three hours. Hmmm. Yay.

I won't be at the meet tomorrow night. I'm going to want sleep. I have a feeling I'll be up a while tonight.

UPDATE:

Went to Waterford Hills for an open trackday today. I'll try and sum the day up for you as best I can, start to finish.

9:30 a.m. I arrived just in time for the drivers' meeting. Afterwards, I got a learner lap in the passenger seat of one of the track workers' Neon (which went pretty fast, I thought). The track is one late apex after another. There are elevation changes, including a big up-downhill right turn with bad camber.

10:45 The white group (aka n00bs) get to go out and rip around the track. The very first lap, I get passed by an old Fiat roadster and a Mazaspeed Protoge. Next lap, I passed the Fiat back. And a few other cars. I missed most of my apexes, but I must say that have 255s on the car made the lateral G-forces incredibly fun.

11:15 In the second blue group (aka "good drivers"), I watched a guy wad up a five day-old white Porsche GT3. It made my balls hurt to watch it. I heard squealing tires, which I though odd because no one was entering or exiting the front straight. I look up to see grass flying up from the GT3 in the S turns before a winding left into the uphill turn. Then it hit the tire barrier. Hard. Back end came up three feet off the ground and settled back in. It had to be towed in.

12:00ish, got my second run around, and Stuart's nephew offered to time me. According to the kid (who times Stuart's laps) I was consistently in the 1:34 range, with a best lap of 1:34:28. Not bad. Passed a good number of cars, including a GMC Canyon pickup truck. Twice. High marks for tracking it, though. Got stuck behind a 66 912 driven by a French guy who apparently forgot how to let people pass.

NOTE: You can only pass when waved by the driver ahead of you.

2:30 ish Third run, I picked up a passenger. Pretty cool guy who drives an old Talon TSI which is (surprise!) not running. DSM. Cool guy. I was almost too embarrased to have him along, as I thought I really sucked. We had some fun and put down some good laps.

3:30 I realize I'm sunburned like a naked chicken in the Mojave.

4:30ish They combined several run groups to get more track time. I passed two STis () and got passed by an 06 Z06 and a Spec Miata. Other than that, I passed a number of cars. I put down my best lap by far. I hit more than half my apexes correctly.

MISCELLANY: Stuart got a little footage of me, but is going on vacation. I'll get it when I get it. If you include the trip to and from Waterford, which is mostly interstate, I got 10.2 MPG on that tank of gas. I did burn a bit of oil, but not much. Only missed one shift all day and was not as hard on the brakes as I feared (which is not to say I wasn't hard on them). Came home, washed the track grime off and applied copious amounts of anti-burn goodies to my sizzled skin.

No, the rims and tires you saw at Street Legal were mine. I ordered the wheels from Japan through GarageSpec.com (a vendor here) and the tires from VlucanTire.com.

I highly recommend the wheels. They're awesome looking, light and strong. And didn't pit despite the amount of brembo dust I shed on them today.

It was fun.

I don't think I'll ever be cool. With this sunburn especially.

Hooked as a po boy can be. I don't has a dual income household. I'm going to try and do more trackdays, if that's what you mean.

those anti-burn goodies would work better on your skin if you applied them BEFORE you go out in the sun j/k
