i just finished reading all 29 pages of start to now of your car. Incredible thread, helps me a lot, i just picked up at 07 STI limited with spt exhaust from factory, but i plan on eventually making it more fun by adding simple mods such as the aps intake and maybe a different bov/50/50 for better sound and maybe some other minor modifications which do not require internals being modded. how many miles do u have on the car now, have you had any problems with her since you have been modding?? any chatter at low speed tight turns(0-5mph) perhaps while still getting off clutch making sharp turns in first gear im hearing some chatter from the clutch, and sometimes the rear right of the car, not sure what it is.

Dont get an intake, or a blow off valve, unless your getting tuned for it..... the chatter is normal

yeah thats normal.

luckily ive never had one problem, if you take care of your sti and have it tuned properly, and do all the maintenence, you will be very happy. be careful with an intake on your 07. also, id just stay with the stock bpv if most likely.

Okay sounds good, I used to drive my dads aps twin turbo G35 a lot and i LOVED the sound, very loud bov, very nice. unfortunately the block exploded...and shes gone. Where would i have to get it tuned if i install just an intake, how much $$$ would that cost - I know nothing about anything. This thread looks like you have years of experience on this stuff. My goal was 300whp, the guy i bought it from said it will last forever until i modify it because it will throw the computer off and mess up the timing....so i guess your right about tuning after every mod, i just dont know where/ $$$.

look in the regional forums for your area. read the reviews of tuners in your local area and go from there. give them a call and tell them what you want to do.

300whp is very reasonable. you can achieve that with a stg.2 protune possibly, depending on the dyno.

stage 2 protune , is that done by the tuner or the cobb accessport, speaking of which, can I use that to tune if i were to get it, or is it just for different maps when changing octane. thanks for the advice! ill check with local shops

protune is done by the tuner. Stg2 is the regular ap map

How much do you pay for a tune - w/ and w/o dyno time, I know dyno time is expensive. Is it necessary to have in order for them to tune? What should i invest in to obtain 300whp besides an -aps cai- and -cobb access port-. My main concern is maintaining driveability, durability, and streetability since it will be my daily driver.

Read up on Cobb's site. To go stage 2 with the AccessPort, you'd need a turbo back exhaust. This means you need an aftermarket downpipe, catted, or cat less. Without the downpipe, you'd be at stage 1 with the Accessport, which gives you a little more hp/tq.

Tunes vary in price due to the tuner/shop. I'd say $500-$600 for a tuning day.

yeah, expect to pay around the 500$ mark for a reputable shop.

but, it is well worth it!

It came with SPT exhaust...i think the factory upgrade. Im not positive but I think ill still need the downpipe?? what about the uppipe or headers or any of that?? so for stage 2, all i need to do is complete exhaust, get the cai, and buy the accessport and have it tuned?
