Apparently the control it gives over the smallest details is second to none... should be exciting.

Better throttle response, no possibility of an air leak, ball-bearing turbo... what's not to like?
compressor surge.

I just think it might have some long term effects on the turbo.

Either way, if its not bad for the turbo, fine with me.

^No idea. Just regurgitating. Someone with more knowledge on the subject should chime in.

^ Neither. Read my post a few up - it's a prototype standalone ECU not released or available on the market yet.

Garrett Ball Bearing turbo's do not have a thrust bearing. Bushing turbo's have a thrust bearing.

that "surge" you hear would create a force on the turbo vanes to move the shaft in and out....thus putting force on the thrust bearing and could potentially prematurely wear it out.

Since the Garrett CHRA's don't have a thrust bearing, there's no premature wear. You're hearing the pressure wave go back through the turbo. BTW, I like the sound It's unique to everyone.

FWIW, Bill from I-speed has nearly 70k miles on a gt32 twinscroll bushing/thrust bearing equipped turbo....he runs no BOV. He has never rebuilt it or had problems with it.
