IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | This car will primarily be my daily driver. It has to be actually... it's my only car. Right now, I'm keeping my options open. I've never modded a STI to this point, so I honestly have no idea how it's going to feel/handle. I think after everything is done and I've had enough time to get a feel for its limits and capabilities, I'll know where I want to focus. My guess is Auto-X and the odd track judging by what my mods should do to the car. I may throw in a drag here and there just for ego boosting sessions ![]() And yes, I've spent many hours reading thread after thread, talking to tuners and vendors, and reading many member's journals to try and get the mods that suit my (believed) needs as a driver. The only other car I've modded was my previous car... Audi A3. I did everything possible to that car minus a turbo upgrade. But, the biggest limitation was it's differential (open), the turbo (tiny K03), and the FWD. I had it up to 300HP at the crank, but it still couldn't compete with a stock STI. = had to go ![]() My options were a turbo upgrade (big $$ in the Audi world), a LSD, or a complete drivetrain swap into an Audi Quattro/VW 4Motion. That was huge cash though (~$15,000). So, I figured if I could sell the Audi and start where I left off with a stock STI, then times would be good. And here I am |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2006 Trader Rating: (7) | You mind posting or PMing me what you paid? I'd like to get a feel for what they are charging for a new STi in Washington State. I'd prefer new over used but depends on the $$ diff. Great looking Suby, looks like you are not waisting anytime modding it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | Yeah, I got a really good deal. I didn't mess around with the salesman -->sales manager --> salesman --> etc etc. I've been through that process too many times in my life, and I won't do it anymore. I went straight to the top right away, gave the manager the info, he made a few calls, and I got the deal I was looking for. Others have gotten a better deal than I did though... even closer to invoice. None from Washington though. Don't bother with Carter if you want a penny below MSRP on a LTD. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | In keeping with all the 2007 STI content, I did a baseline dyno test today. This dyno is a heartbreaker, so I was decently happy with the results. My STI tested strong for this dyno. Something interesting to note is the weird boost curve early in the RPM's. It looks as though the engine pulled timing and cut boost, hence the spike, dip, then gradual build. This tune = Anyway, after reading this thread , it's obvious that TopSpeed's Dynajet reads higher than a Mustang Dyno. But I am impressed at the gains made on just a tune on a stock setup. I'm very curious to see what kind of power I'll be putting down in the future with a Stage "3" ![]() Blaine (tuner) and I discussed the upcoming mods (20g, FMIC, Cobb TBE, AP, Pulley, CF DS) and he figures I'll be putting close to 390HP to the wheels. That'll be some impressive gains IMO. I'm looking forward to the fun in the next couple months. |

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Yeah, those two dyno's sure do measure differently. I was about to mention that thread on NASIOC. That's annoying. I hope there's something I can do about the boost going up, being pulled, then gradually increasing again and still keep the vehicle stock. For now, however, it looks like I'm going to have to resort to Cobb AP2. I love about 90% of the changes Subaru made for 07, but I DO NOT understand this one |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (5) | ^After looking at the charts, it honestly seems as if the ECU was tuned for 93+ octane. One interesting thing to note was the A/F ratio when doing two different techniques for the pull: Pull #1: The car was taken to fourth gear, then WOT at 2000RPM. The A/F curve showed a downward sloping trend. Normal. Pull #2: The other pull shown, the car was taken to fourth gear, taken up to 2350RPM and then went WOT. Look at the curve for that. Even while boosting to almost 13PSI, the A/F ratio remained at ~14 until 3850RPM came around. That's where a protune will come in. There's no need for that ratio at that point in the curve. Just interesting to see what the car's doing. My 2 cents. The A/F ratio will definitely be tweaked, as will that weird boost yo-yo early in the pull. |
