My meth system is not high maintenance AT ALL. I never know it is there (except for the kick in the arse when it starts spraying) until the light starts blinking under acceleration, letting me know the tank is getting low.

I have a 5 gallon race fuel tank with a nice long flexible pour hose left over from my shifter days and when it runs out, I stop by my favorite go-juice shop on my way home from work. Simple.

To the non-car observer, these past few posts would be quite a surprise.
METH! YEAH!!!
Haha, not the best word to be tossing around for the untrained eye

I have more questions Go figure....

Okay.
1) If I go meth, why can I keep my stock injectors?
- Is it because the increased octane provided by the meth makes the extra fuel from bigger injectors unneccessary?
- How can increased octane with an agressive tune allow for the same amount of fuel? (Sorry, struggling with this one).

2) With a 20g, meth, FMIC, blah blah and all the other stuff, I'll have a tune specifically setup for all that. Based on what you guys said, I'll want a non-meth map in case I run out.
Okay, now the question:
- Because I'm on stock injectors, will this tune be very "de-tuned" to account for the serious lack of fuel provided by the stockers on a bigger turbo?

So, do I have this right? The non-meth map is just until you can get to the store to fill up the tank. The de-tuned map is a safety thing only, and not a daily driving map. As in, I'd have equal or worse dyno numbers on the non-meth map as compared to stock.

Serious thanks for the help

Majin's non-meth map is still good enough to run high 12s at the track (he's apparently a good driver but it gives you an idea for how fast his car is ). It's not going to be stock-like by any means.

But yes it won't be as aggressive as your meth map.

Alright...for a 20G setup with Meth...I would advise you to get injectors.....just to make sure everything is good.

A Non-Meth Tuned Map is when you are in the middle of some place and you run low on Meth, take the Cobb AP (or whatever EM) and switch the map from the Meth Tuned Map to the Non-Meth Tuned Map. Then you just turn the Meth Kit off (unplug it or have a switch routed to do this) and just drive around and still have fun. Your Meth-Tuned Map will basically be your daily driver map.....since you will run Meth 24/7 like I do. Thing is this....when you get tuned they will ask you how you would like the tune to be....basic safe answer: I want the car to have the most power you can get, while it being still very safe .

I am on stock injectors with the Meth Injection and all the various engine parts.....and I am good...when I go with my turbo upgrade (), I will use the PE 850's. Best thing......talk to your tuner, they will tell you what they are comfortable with and what they have seen work and not work.....tell them what you plan to do (20g, Meth, blah blah blah)...then ask what injectors.....and after that convo you will have a good idea of what you need.

Yes.

meth increases the effective octane rating of your fuel as well as cools the intake air temperatures, in turn allowing your tuner to adjust for more timing and boost, in turn increasing your engine's output.

it will be "de-tuned" compared to your meth map, but it will still be maxing out your weakest link of your set up. if you have stock injectors and a stock TMIC, then the turbo will max out the efficiencies of one or the other (or both). my 20G pump map runs better than any VF39 pump map because of the fact that the 20G is more efficient than the VF and puts more power down than the VF at the same boost pressure.

you would have two maps - one ON meth and one OFF meth... on meth when you want to run your higher power map, and a off meth whenever you don't want to run meth or run out. i actually find myself driving off meth most of the time.

Majin, thanks a lot for the info. My mind is made up!

Subracing (tuner shop in my city) is getting their shipment of Coolingmist kits at the end of January... conveniently around the same time as the AP V2 should be showing up
So meth it is....

And I repeat:

no problem! you may want to read through a friend of mine's thread, CicioSTi or my member journal (not updated in a long while) - he and i pretty much have the same set up, but i run the SMC meth kit on a 2004 and he runs the Coolingmist kit on a 2005.

between his thread, my thread, nandanrp, and the rest of the terrific members on this site, you should have all of your concerns addressed in no time.

(hijack) Hopefully that AR Fab meet happens in March and I can fly out - I wanna see your car! (/hijack).

Good luck Whyte. Are you still going to use those other injectors you got your hands on?

Thanks man. And yeah, I got seriously hooked up by BM. That should take care of that little hiccup... phew.

So, more bad news

We've been having ferocious dumps of snow for the past few weeks with brutally cold weather (-3*F, -4*F and lower). Just gross.
Well, today the weather decided it would go back up to 32*F.

Picture this:
A dropped STI w/ V-Limited front lip driving down roads covered in heavy slush where the middles of each lane are actually small mountains loaded with the stuff.

Now picture this:
V-Limited lip in 3 pieces.

Picture my face:

That seriously made me sad. I expected to lose my lip to a steep driveway or something, but not to heavy slush!
I was just minding my own business when the nasty slush fiend snatched my lip and ripped it under the car. The grinding noise was enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Oh well, that's two bad things. They say **** happens in threes What's next!?!?!!

A RavSpec CF front lip will find a new home on my car in the spring.
to a sweet lip
to a waste of money
