One of my previous cars was a 2004 WRX STi. The extend of modding on that car was tint and GF210 lowering springs ( harsh harsh harsh). I intend to make up for that lack of modding with the Ltd.

I think I've finally found the perfect balance between semi-luxury and a raw driving experience in the STI Ltd. A sleeper is in the making...

Anyway, I figured I would start my journal now, while all my parts roll in. My plans are in no way as large as some of the amazing STI's guys have put together here, but I intend to put together a very capable streetable and auto-x'able STI.

edit: Disregard the above bull isht After researching the different turbo setups, "lag" time for the 20g is still substantial power when comparing it to full boost on a 16g. 20g all the way... glad I made that decision. Coupled with a WBR Intercooler, high flowing fuel injectors and fuel pump, and a CAI, this bad boy is going to pullllll

I'm retardedly excited to start this project. I think my friends/fam/gf are ready to kill me... it's all I talk about

More pics to come as more parts roll in. And the car rolls in.

ETD for the car is 3rd week of October

Thanks for looking guys, and I'm always open to suggestions and help from experienced STI modders.

Can't wait to see the car, hope its in soon!

I'd like to see some dyno comparisons btwn. the 16g and 18g turbo's on an STi. I am having a very difficult time believing that they would make the same numbers up top and that the 18g wouldn't spool quick enough for you. Whatever turbo you decide on I look forward to seeing the results!

Edit: Great mod list btw.

I agree 100% that there's no way a lower flowing turbo will produce the same top end as a smaller turbo with the same supporting mods. But, the vendors and tuners that I spoke to all recommended the EVOIII 16g over the 18g. Note though, that this is the EvoIII 16g. There's a small 16g, a big 16g (550 CFM) and then the Evo III (575CFM). They all noted that even though the flow is less, and that top end won't be quite the same, the peak power/torque achieved should be the same and the spool quicker.

I guess I won't know until I get it on the car, get some dyno results, and compare those to an 18g on the same dyno.

Ps. The Mustang dyno here is known for very low numbers. A protuned, Cobb Stg 2 '06 STI w/ K&N drop-in filter and lightweight pulley only made ~260 WHP. Stock for the same car was 220WHP.
Even though other protuned St 2 cars are making 300+WHP, it's no comparison.

Sounds like a VERY tasteful mod list! I agree that you should consider a TD06H-18G. It should give you very similar spool to stock with a TMIC but make more power up top than a 16G. Either way, I can't wait to see pics! Do you plan on tracking it or is it mainly just a daily driver?

^ Thanks a lot! I honestly can't wait to have a car in front of me to take pictures of!
It's going to primarily be a street set up, but I do have plans of hitting the track, drag strip (for fun...) and auto-x. I think the way I have things planned, my car is going to shine in auto-x and be just pretty decent on the track. I don't have a big enough turbo to make that crazy top end power.

But, in regards to the 16g vs 18g, I'm going to talk to FP tomorrow and get their take on it. My original inclination was to go with the 18g, but based on others' recommendations, I went with the big 16g. My biggest qualm about going bigger turbo was lag. I want full boost to come on early, not have a coffee break and then Mach 3

The 16g and 18g are the same price too... I'll have to speak to someone to get a better idea of where these turbos shine.

Congrats on the car, a great choice. Good luck with whichever route you decide to go with on the turbo.
