[quote=WhyteSTI]Before pulling the trigger on the Cobb TBE, I went down and listened to it on a guy's 06 STI. That thing looks sleeper, but has a ferocious deep growl - loved it.

Heh, that was me! I personally cannot believe that there is a better sounding exhaust for the STi. Glad I helped in contributing to your decision making skills. Make sure you make a review on that head unit. I'm no audiophile so I need reviews from fellow STi owners.

Are you going to get your work done at Subracing? They did a great job for me.

^ Hey, yeah that audio/visual experience of your exhaust did something special for me

Yeah, Blaine has been taking care of me, so I'll end up doing everything through Subracing. I'll do a lot of the installs myself, but he's going to do all the tuning and the really technical stuff.

Agreed ^^^, or stick with the top mount & go with meth. You will not be happy with a 16 or 18g.....save yourself the time & $$. Hear us now, believe us later.

You guys are all poisonous

After extensive research, talking to tuners, and reading the boards, I've decided to go for the FP 20g. More power =

Thanks everyone for making me spend more money - appreciate it

Right now, thinking TMIC... I know I won't get the same results as with a FMIC.

But, I don't know... I've read conflicting stories on FM vs TM... some report that there's no difference unless you're starting to get a really big turbo bolted on.... We'll see.

Anyway, where do I get a black FMIC?

If you really want sleeper you should also consider the V-mount intercooler.
V-mount is very effective as it shortens the length of the pipes from the turbo-intercooler-throttle body therefore giving you increased throttle response and spooling the turbo slightly faster. Process West has it in the works if your interested.

Yeah, I checked it out on the News/Rumors sub-forum. It looks like a quality piece, but it's a very pricey setup for a pseudo-FMIC. $2,550 + shipping on MastroWRX.com and that's the only place I've seen it so far.

I don't need to spend that kind of cash on an intercooler yet... maybe if I was going gt35r or another BIG turbo, then yes.

May I ask what intercooler setup you are considering?

I'm considering a few options... but they're pretty vague at this point.
It's going to depend a lot on how the protune goes.

Anyway, we've discussed three options:
1) Keep stock TMIC
2) Big TMIC
3) FMIC - probably APS

If I didn't have to, I'd hold off on getting a FMIC, but it looks like it may be the only option.
