Wow. Sorry to hear that but its not the first time I've heard of someone being screwed like that (I have as well )

Why not try and find some OEM's send them to witchhunter and have them flow mod and flow test them? I think its like $30 an injector or something cheap like that. a few of my friends have done that.

To meth or not to meth. Hmmm. What's it cost to install a meth kit on a FMIC? How is it programmed? Is it like the I/C spray button where you have to press it while boosting to get the cooling effect? Can you have it automatically spray when boost hits a certain PSI w/ an AP? UTEC allows that doesn't it? I might have my stuff mixed up though...

Good luck!
Well, BM_STi has helped me out HUGE by sending me his Perrin modded injectors. I'll get those flow tested as well, and cleaned and lubed, and hopefully that'll take care of the injectors.
Otherwise, I have read good things about the Nismos so that was my next option. Thanks to BM though, things should be okay in this department.

Spaze, thanks for the advice on going through witchhunter. I do like keeping stock parts just in case, so if nothing else pans out, I think I'll just buy new and go from there.

fastcb - the problem with your injectors is that they were used and you didn't flow test them right? New PE 850's shouldn't be a problem, correct? And I feel for you man... hopefully you get the time soon to get things sorted out. Nothing is emotionally worse (well, maybe some things hehe ) than your car running like crap.

I know zero about it... I haven't searched it once, or read a thing besides Nandan's praise of it

I never considered meth until I was presented with a deal I could not refuse and boy do I not regret it. Best mod by far and I will have approximately 20% IDC left for my disposal. Honestly meth makes such a difference once tuned and you get the benefits of keeping stock like idle and ride quality while doing so. On a 20G I am pretty sure you would be fine to run the stockers on meth. Who knows what modded injectors will do to the 07 crazy ecu mapping as well.

I can't answer regarding costs, since I haven't researched it.

My limited knowledge of meth is as follows...you will need to tap somewhere along the I/C cold pipe (I think) for the meth injector, so that the cold air charge + meth mix go into the throttle body (on TMICs they tap the cold side tank, I think ). The meth sprays at predetermined boost levels, set by your protuner. You MUST be tuned (AFAIK) to use meth; the tuner will have to tune for the higher octane mix that meth gives you (allowing you to run higher boost, without bigger fuel injectors - since the octane is already higher).

The only control you have is to turn the power on/off for the meth pump. It pumps according to the boost level set by your tuner. Be aware, turning off your meth pump and using a meth map will not be good times for your engine (same goes for running out of meth). Majin has a setup that sounds best to me; he has a toggle switch to turn the meth pump on/off, and also has meth and non-meth maps. If he's low on meth or doesn't want to use meth, he can turn the pump off and reflash his non-meth map. He also has a warning light when his meth tank is 1/3 from empty.

I'll let the experts correct me, but that's what I know and accept as correct

Consider it "liquid intercooler" that allows you to safely run more timing and boost. It cools the intake charge and raises the octane level slightly. I have the Coolingmist Stage III stainless braided line kit with the Varicool controller that is boost referenced. I also have the 1 gallon tank and pump mounted stealth in the trunk on a custom fabbed plate. I have a float valve in the tank to let me know when I am getting low and a light on the dash next to my IC spray button that lights when I am low. Here are some pics of the install: First is the pump and tank on the plate in the trunk
Second is the controller in the glove box

This is the bracket:

It is tuned to start spraying at 12psi boost and reach 100% duty cycle at 22psi.

Hope this gets you started!

I know about Meth! Def worth it...only thing is...you got to monitor it and def have two maps...so if you run low...you switch maps on the EM aka Cobb AP or whatever to the tuned NON-METH map...and your good to go until you are able to refill.......Meth kit that I have and run is the SMC Meth Kit from Gruppe-S for $499 shipped.....comes with everything...

One thing I do consider to do is get the Spec-C Intercooler 12L Tank that goes in the trunk. That will have 12L of Meth (I run 50/50 Meth/Distilled Water mixture). You will def not run out in one gas tank. The one gallon tank that SMC provides (Which replaces your windshield washer fluid tank, they give you a tiny tank with a pump that can be relocated towards the battery area) last about 1-1 1/2 gas tanks.....1 if you run the car hard. I burned through one gallon of 50/50 meth mix on 20+ mins at Limerock using only a 1/4 tank of gas....it depends on the lead foot. As you already read, it kicks in when the tuner sets it to a certain PSi and then goes 100% until you come out of the set PSi and turns off. SMC by the way will be coming with a fail safe system within the upcoming months......and it already has 3 different filters, so you won't have to worry so much about a clogged nozzle. One thing to consider if you go meth......you will be loving it till no end! And, you will need gauges to monitor EGT's, Boost, etc just to make sure its all good. Its def worth the money, the most bang for your buck at only 500 bucks....more power than headers!

Thanks guys for the great info.

But, it seems like there's a lot of 'stuff' that's attached to having a meth kit on the car:
1) The kit itself including the install
2) Relocating the SMC pump
3) Possibly getting a 12L tank (which seems most practical)
4) Always having meth on hand
5) Always having distilled water on hand.

So, with the 12L tank, how long does that last you daily driving versus auto-x or track? Like, if I'm just driving around the city for a week (1-2 tanks of gas), how many times would I (or will I) be filling the meth/water?

How easy is meth to come by? I'm guessing tuner shops must carry it...? Price/gallon or Price/L?

Sorry for all the questions... I'm just getting a quick crash course on meth injection instead of reading all sorts of threads

How much boost do you see daily driving?

Lots. I drive spiritedly.

You mean how many times am I going into boost right?

Well, in the summer I drive hard since there's traction. I'll rip through 2nd and 3rd WOT on on-ramps regularly. But, I'll also drive conservatively too at the same time.

Winter... totally depends on the roads. Right now, I'm driving very easy since all our roads are so icy and snowed over. But, once they clear a bit, it'll be back to more spirited stuff.

That answer your question?

ps. what are you doing online?? You need to be out a-cela-bratin'!

Nah I'll be in bed soon. Wednesday isn't optimal, plus it's raining...and finally, my mom surprised me today with a visit to Chicago So I'm spending some quality time with her, all the ruckus will be held off until Saturday

I should have asked, how often do you see boost in excess of 12 or so PSI. Meth won't kick on at low boost.

You can cruise on the highway for hundreds of miles just sipping on meth as long as you're not in (high) boost constantly.

I should stop though, I'm leaving my realm of "expertise" so I'll leave it to the others that know better than me Like I said, I'd do it if I had the stones to do it.

I drive pretty spirted as well. A one gallon tank usually last me about 3 weeks or 2-3 tanks of gas. Meth is easy to get and denatured alky is even easier available at home depot and etc. The SMC is VERY easy to install especially with the underhood windshield washer tank. Install took me less than an hour to fully perform neatly probably around 45min first time around. It basically took me the longest to put the damn intercooler back on.

^Nice, that's the info I was looking for.

pps. thanks again for the info
