^Just plain old heat. The guys just installed the new 1.06 housing on my turbo, so they're thinking maybe with repositioning everything, the DP/housing was just a little closer to some wiring than it was pre-big housing.

Anyway, the heat off the turbine housing and DP must have ignited the plastic wire insulation and started from that.

That pic was taken half way through the heat wrapping process. All the wires and piping were wrapped in DEI heat shielding. I also have a turbo blanket (can barely see it above). The only thing I can think that happened was when they were wiring in the Autronic, they either removed some of the heat wrap or the wiring moved closer to the DP. Either way, now it has to be fixed = more delay.

man, that's weird..something had to have been on there to ignite.
wires don't just randomly catch fire without a source.

Ya man, without being there and actually seeing it with my own eyes, I just don't know. I'll talk with my tuner next week and see if he has any idea what went down.

Thanks Greg. It'll be back next week sometime, I have no doubt. If not Tuesday, then maybe Wednesday or Thursday. They're actually waiting on my car to be done before picking up another 2 cars in my city. So, it's in their best interest to get my car done and out of there so they can get rolling on another couple of projects.

And I'm glad my little pyro party inspired you to heat wrap the hell out of your engine bay .

Sorry to hear about the fire. At least the main harness is still intact. Looking forward to seeing her back in action soon

^Thanks man, shouldn't be long now.

I actually got an update today. It's looking like the car will be back Thursday or Friday depending on how fast things get done.

The problem was, in fact, the repositioned housing being closer to the wiring etc. The A/C line combusted and took down a few sensors and other wires with it. Not a big deal in the long run.

So, I decided to have them remove my A/C anyway. It'll be a lot faster than sourcing another line, then having to run it. This way I get rid of a totally useless function (for me at this point), lose about 10 pounds (wow, I know), and clean up the engine bay. Between that, the air pump delete, and a bunch of now useless factory stuff, my engine bay is starting to unclutter itself .

^Good call. Clean = happy.

Oh ya, forgot to add last night that all the features of the Autronic were worked in. Like, the real deal anti-lag that you hear on rally cars, FFS, and launch control.

I didn't think he was going to hook up the anti-lag since it's so abusive on the equipment... and the temptation will be there to use it! jk. Really cool though!

I want it to last a couple days at least!!

Anyway, just got an update.

My final pump gas tune (94 + 50/50 (meth:water)) broke their pump gas dyno record.

+500WHP.

Amazing what the bigger housing did - just opened everything right up.

Race gas results coming soon.
