Default The Interior Flaire! STi Small Update-Last Post

If you have been around here for awhile, you probably have seen me lurking, causing trouble and helping out when I can. I got my '05 PSM STi in March of '05 but have refrained from starting a journal for alot of reasons. Mostly, it was because I know that I can never hold a candle to some of these journals on here. Just way too much awesomeness and I figure I'll let the big dogs run the show.
It is time, now, not because I have anything special, I just would like to offer up what I have done and contribute as much as possible to IWSTI.

Nice! I actually like the CGM fog surrounds. Oddly enough.. Its sorta a cool offset from the PSM.

Cory,

Would you believe it, I just placed an order with Mauro Motorsports for another set of JDM fogs in CGM. For the time being, I'm keeping the car and going with a Varis fiberglass/carbon fiber front lip and matching side skirts to go with the Varis carbon fiber hood cooler I already have. I can even mount the proposed APS DR725 FMIC in there so now I will be able to have my cake AND eat it too!

Man, Jeff, that is something else. Sell all those parts and then buy them again. Funny!
I got rid of the wheels. Too heavy, too narrow, and in the end, my conscience could not handle cutting the edges off my STi. Back to the stock BBS wheels for now. I realized after much pain that in order to better or even equal the performance/strength of the stockers, you have to lay some serious money down like Nutmegman has done for his Volks. Sweet!

I got road-tuned this weekend and the car is absolutely amazing! Clark Turner tuned it with his new AVCS cam maps. With a stock snail and a big TMIC, my car pulls like mad all the way to redline. WOW! Additionally, he tuned it for meth. The Coolingmist system was a blast to tune-lay down a killer base map, turn on the meth, turn up the flow and adjust the fuel back, timing up, and boost up.
The car is like a completely different animal now. Boost comes on faster (more precise WG control), the power is smoother and when the meth kicks in, you can REALLY feel it. What a kick in the pants!

Good to hear that the Coolingmist worked well in your scheme of things. Actually, I only backtracked on three of my "for sale" parts, Dave's GT Spec T brace set and GT Spec front tie brace, and your CGM fogs. I prefer the color and size of these rims compared to the silver GT-V's. With that extra .5" on the width, I can get those 255/35/18's. Check out aspenwht05sti's link under Caliente in the tires/wheels vendor section for what those rims look like on his white STi. They arrived from Mackin earlier today.

BTW, I pulled the trigger on some coils, sways, 160 degree thermostat, and rad hoses last week. I have hated the ride of my car since I put the Tanabe GF210s on. Harsh, harsh, harsh. My tuner rode with me all weekend and his back was sore and by the time I dropped him at the airport, he was so ready for the torture to end. He rode in another STi that had Tein coils on it and it rode totally different in a good way.

The Tanabes drop so nicely but the pictures I've seen of the rears almost completely compressed scared me

Nice car btw

So did you fly Clark out to "Big D" just for your tune"? If so, PM me the details.

Glad to hear you ditched those wheels and tires. Sometimes, stock is better.

I can't tell that the fog surrounds are a different color.

Nice stable, btw. Looks like mine except both of ours are blue. WRB for me and Athens Blue for her.
