I dunno what everybody was so worried about with the heat shield, I think it looks very adequate, and the only thing I'd change is the rubber wrapping so it sits flush with the hood when closed for a better seal, I can always do that myself. As for the stock funnel, the dealer was about to take that and the airbox and throw them away until I said um... I want them. (So if you do upgrade, ask for it specifically) That seems like the best idea to do since all of the fender-well guts are still in there.

i'm pretty sure the snorkel/funnel will fit. i made an extended heatshield for my typhoon and it fits fine. see pic below:

Looks and sounds good, but dang, $100 for installation and they don't bother removing the snorkus which is the only slightly challenging part??? Guess they don't call it the stealership for nothing. You should have demanded your $0.25 disposal fee back since that was probably the charge for the attempted disposal of your stock intake box. Haha!

Without putting the snorkel back on, the intake will probably suck more hot air around it than from anywhere else despite the heat shield. To be most affective, one would think that a constant draw of fresh air would be best and that would mean at least removing the snorkus so that air can be drawn in from the fender holes or replacing it with a snorkus delete elbow like the GP Moto unit and along with the stock snorkel.

The Typhoon doesn't make the STi run lean, there been private dyno charts on it, it maintained the correct air to fuel ratio, even with the Cobb AP.

Any reason you had the dealership install this for you when it cost $100? It's just a handful of bolts and some clamps. Or do they void the warranty if you do it yourself?

If they do the install on this part, it's covered for labor as well as part warranty. I did this just in case...

After reading NewShockerGuy's thread I fell in LOVE with those shoes when I saw them (the Ferrari Trionfo Duocell 2006's)... anyways, after searching high and low, and emailing shops across the globe (Canada, Japan, and eventually Italy!), I found a shop. Well you could call it the shop for this shoe, considering it's the Ferrari gift shop right next to the official Ferrari museum... Warm-Up. After a couple emails back and forth with the lovely Samantha who wrote almost perfect English, and answered every one of my questions (confirming stock, and sizing my foot because a lot of the foot charts give different US/UK/EU measurements), I placed my order for about ~€120 (~$150). Wonderful service, and they promise that the UPS shipment will arrive by week's end. If you're looking for any Ferrari branded Puma shoes, check Warm Up. They also sell anything Ferrari you could ever want.

If you do end up ordering, let Samantha know that you found the shop through a good word (don't have to say it's me, just want them to know they're getting word-of-mouth business).

**two days later**

hotness... they came today only two days later!

Here are some shots (including me looking fobby as all hell -- click for high-res):
