For some relevant information, Brandon Burkhart won STU @ nationals in 05 and 06 on Tein Flex coilovers, granted I believe hes a good driver and whatnot, in 07 I think we will see STU really move into a very competitive class nationally (now its officially recognized and etc). Anyway with that said Brandon is getting ZZYZX coilovers (basically droop travel like stock). Ok, bottom line is, if you are looking for a go fast setup with the flexes maybe look to Brandon's setup - which to my knowledge is off the shelf valved flexes, 12k springs front & rear! Thats a lot of spring, like 670lbs! He also has the strano FSB (big ole 32mm FSB, I used to have it, I dont recommend it because it not a whole lot stiffer than the WL to warrant the benefit over the risk of breaking your control arm, I DID!) and he had stock RSB. I am not him, so I dont know exactly why he did what he did, nor am I much of a suspension tuner/guru... however I think he made the point that he didnt experience a whole lot of inside rear lifting with his setup even though he had the really droop travel limited Tein's - I believe this is because of the 12k springs out back and somewhat because of the stock bar. And the front of the car is stiff so weight transfer is more proportionate. For example, people with mild bars in the front and mild/aggressive rear bars appear to get lotsa rear inside lift. (a buddy of mine we got pix of my car and his car in the same corner at about the same place and time with him lifting his inside rear significantly and me not lifting at all, we both have stock struts (I believe I just got the RCE's if that makes a whole lotta diff), but he has the cobb bars f&r and I have the WL bars (29set front and 24set rear). So take that FWIW. I hope I made sense and my ideas were correct, heh. My opinion is get the Whiteline FSB and maybe keep the stock rear bar if you get the flex coilovers. However my opinion and what i have outlined I should be taken FWIW, I am applying it to sort of autox primarily and what I have shown is biased, basically your applications/goals might not be the same..... However, methinks the stock strut and RCE springs plus camber plates will make you purty happy... hope that helps | |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (29) | Reason: SZ49 with the 3" Inlet, Ported Outlet, Fatboy Turbine Wheel upgrade, and the 8CM housing upgrade will spool up faster than the 3" Inlet SZ55 by 300-500 rpm, and be about 20'ish whp less than the SZ55. Plus I feel the SZ55 is basically pushing the limits of the stock internals....especially since I am on Meth. I just think the SZ55 would be too laggy for when I auto-x (eventually!), and go to Limerock and such. Hmmm 20G or FP Green? Hmmm, why not the FP Green on Meth!!! |
