IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (15) | Yes, It is a little late at night, but might as well do my write up. After my little scare last week(see my thread in engine section), I got most of the waiting parts installed. My HKS headers wrapped in Thermotec Bronze and painted Bronze, my Cusco Engine and Tranny mounts, and my Whiteline Steering rack bushings. Well, first things first, the Cusco mounts are VERY NOISY....and definitely not for the I want a smooth ride person. It caused alot of vibration at low RPM's but the difference is very noticeable. The shifter does not move anymore, so easier to shift and no engine movement. My car sounds like it has straight cut gears at times. The Steering rack bushings do cause a little less slop in the wheel and I would definitely recommend it. This may of been the easiest of the installs (Chris you agree?). Last but not least, the HKS headers. What can I say, they are awesome, and the difference is VERY noticeable. The car sounds mean and since they are unequal, they keep the boxer sound. The flow is increased meaning hitting full boost sooner and power band is increased noticeably. Hitting full boost under 3k is awesome, and keeping it almost all the way up to 6k. I was able to spin the wheels in 2nd gear last night which was a first as well. Now comes a hard decision, and I am hearing multiple views on the subject. I have everything basic needed for a protune, but what are people's feelings on adding other things like TGV's and turbo inlet before the protune or before the turbo upgrade. How are people's tunes been with and without those mods. I am concidering the inlet and not the tgv's and get them when I decide to get the new turbo. The real question is do I get protuned now with adding just the inlet and in about a year when i get the turbo and front mount, get the TGV's, Injectors and such. I know when you do the inlet you can easily add the TGV's but I have heard conflicting things on if they do anything major to the stock turbo applications. I have heard they do help when you go larger turbo though. So I guess the question is since I have pretty much decided to wait for about another year or so for the turbo, what should I still get to complete my Protune setup. If XXChris could chime in as well, that would be awesome, because he will be my tuner. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (30) | You also forgot you added in the TiC Pink Crossmember bushings. You know my response, if your already taking the intake manifold off, why do it 2 times when the TGV's are right there. You could easily buy JDM TGV deletes for $200.00, and the benifits from installing those would benifit you in the tune. |
