IWSTI Addict since: Jun 2005 Trader Rating: (30) | Jake's tires were missing some chunks! We had to change his brake pads, because he had NO MEAT left on the inner pads....he even shaved some of his rotor (found a lil piece of shaved metal). |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Hey Steve, Great driving for your first day! You got some good tire squal through Big Bend. At your next track day with scda we will refine your line, especially through Big Bend and the Left Hander and get you going even faster!! Come to NHIS on the 9th, you could give me a ride there :-(. I'll be your dedicated instructor. |

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2004 Trader Rating: (4) | yea, i guess it's a little high. I think most people like to have their hands at 3 and 9 o'clock (which is where i put mine). At limerock you never need to move your hands around on the steering wheel because there aren't any turns that require you to turn that much. after watching my in car video, tim actually does the same thing as steve, except just not quite as pronounced. he also returns his hand to 3 and 9 once the turn is over. IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (0) | Interesting, I think I like 10:30 and 2:30 with some prepositioning and passing. Jakes comment about not turning too far is true of course. I think my objective in doing so may be to have my hands at my preferred positions mid curve. I think for me my positioning is instinctual. When I started racing I relied on seat of the pants and emotion and developed certain habits then. Then later in my racing I was lucky to learn applied theory from Bob Akin and Joe Stimola. Bob advised my while scca racing my Porsche, Joe while I ran Canadian ChampcarLites. Hand position was close enough to do the job. I had someone recently in novice group who wanted to use 10 and 5. That was immediatly unworkable and he switched and liked it. I say close enough! after some babble |
