IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Installed my Replica of a Chargespeed CF Type-2 lip about a month ago and finally got around to taking some pics. Picked it up from CVR Motorsports for about $250 shipped. Fitment was "B" and took some tugging and pulling to get it to line up right, but I like it now that it is on. I just couldnt justify spending $500-600 for a V-Limited, so I went with this. Also added the Home Depot Racing lower rubber lip. It has already saved me a could of times from scratching the crap out of the lip. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by fourseasonsandles; 03-07-2007 at 07:02 PM. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I have run into a problem. I have never had any issues with my custom made "Ram Air" CAI. None with rain or water in anyway. I have checked it numerous times when it was raining and never any water in the intake. That is until I met with a large puddle. I was coming out of a gas station in a downpour last night and hit a large puddle and thought nothing of it. I hit the gas when I got on the road, turbo spooled and then I got a jitter from the engine and the CEL turned on as well as the blinking Cruise Control. I didn’t panic and got off at the next gas station. I check the oil, it was fine. Then pulled off the air box cover and filter. The filter was damp for the first time and there were droplets of water in the air box. I think started checking out he sensors. They were damp as well. I must have gone deep enough into the puddle or threw enough water up for it to get sucked into the intake. I dried everything off and got to my parents house. I checked the air box again when I got home and everything was still dry so I knew it wasn’t being caused by the rain. My father has an OBP II "reader?" I guess you would call it. I used it to check the codes and sure enough I pulled a "P0103 Mass air flow sensor circuit high input." I made sure veering was dry on the intake and reset the code and haven’t had a problem yet. Now I do plan on revising my CAI tomorrow when it is dry out tomorrow and I suppose I am writing this as a warning to those of you that make an intake like this. I already had to modify in the intake for the upcoming winter and I figured now is as good as time as ever. I plan to cut the intake "Dryer" tubing as follows on the red line. The tube will no longer be directly connected to the fog lamp bezel. I did not plan on having an opening there for the winter either, so this will allow me to easily swap out the fog lamp bezel for the original fog lamp cover each season. ![]() I will then reshape the tube so it is more of an vertical shape like this.. I apologize for my crude drawing..I can build things, but cannot draw with paint ![]() In the spring/summer seasons the "new" hanging tube design will still get plenty of air into the car from the fender well as air is still being fed into the fender well by the fog lamp bezel, but there is no direct intake for the water to travel into. I also will be putting mesh across the fog lamp bezel like the picture below to keep out leaves, rocks etc. Also any water that travels into the bezel will simply drain out of the bottom and never have a chance to get to the revised intake tube. ![]() Once all construction is complete, I will post pics of the final product to give a better illustration of the new intake and hopefully a safer one for my engine. Thoughts or comments? Improvements? I plan on working on this tomorrow. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Well here it is. I got around to pulling the inner fender apart to redo the intake and keep the water from getting into the filter anymore. I wont do much explaining since I posted that above. I'll let the pics do all the explaining. Cut the pipe ![]() Pipe is re-routed to be above the foglight bezel ![]() Redid the bezel with a wire mesh ![]() Other side ![]() Completed on the inside ![]() Completed on the front bumper (played with the brightness on this one to show the wire mesh better.) ![]() Front of the car ![]() After all is said and done I can now replace the bezel with the original foglight cover when the snow hits. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I would like to thank the Subydude for some help in ordering my combo, but still need to yell at him for putting almost identical rims on his own STI. I ordered mine before he put his on..just to set the record straight! The original plan: Help me choose...They have been chosen! I took the car out and flogged it pretty well after I had everything installed. Some things I noticed right away were: The tire noise is much less, The car rides smoother and can hear the engine better because of it. The Proxes obviously don’t stick like the RE070s, but they grip better than I thought they would. There is more noticeable tire squeal when pushed hard and a quick stop from 40mph will engage the ABS where the stock tires would not. Overall I am quite happy with my selection and they met my expectations. Now... pics! 18" Rota Tarmac 3 w/ Toyo Proxes 4 I like presents! ![]() ![]() Gorilla Lugs with Toyo Proxes 4 ![]() Tire comparo- 235/40 18 Proxes 4 ![]() Out with the old and in with the new ![]() The first one mounted.
