IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Hey, I'm in Cheektowaga and Mike tuned my car. I originally had my car tuned at Agile with Gm BCS and then went catless, which is when I went to Mike. I'm not sure what happened but he was unable to flash his basemap for a 3 port BCS, I think it was something with space available with Accessport V1. I had to go with MBC which I think controls boost better anyways. So he will tune with stock boost solenoid? This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

Edit: I just PM'd Mike and asked him about the MBC and any possible benefits. If it is worth it, I might just go with one. On that note, how was your tune? Happy with the results? Last edited by fourseasonsandles; 03-26-2008 at 10:15 AM.

Yeah if thats what he suggests, He is tuning the car. See I was told I could do the MBC but that with our cold weather you have to constantly adjust the MBC with boost issues. Not sure if its true. You can PM I think Neverendingmods I think he ran a MBC and got rid of it cause it was so finicky with the weather he is in PA so its the same weather we see.. But like I said the tuner knows so...

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | Alittle story: When I got tuned at Agile is was a super hot day, I think it was like 95 that day- it was ridiculous to have to tune a car pull after pull on a dyno that hot, w/ minimal airflow in those conditions...yeah, the car had more power but boost would always spike and then settle with 3 port Boost control. In fact I see alot of Agile dyno charts where you see this, which manifests itself as torque spike then levels off- I never cared for the boost spike and being in Buffalo not much I could do. That being said, I would never have another dyno tune done during summer. In fact, I scheduled my Catless tune with Mike later in the year on purpose, in order for him to tune at a moderated temperature. I'm no tuner, but I would think if you're car is exposed to extreme cold and hot temps then you would want a tune done at the average temp the car will see...that was my thinking anways. Soooo.... I was tuned by Mike with MBC on a cooler day, around 50 or so if I remember correctly. This winter, I turned it down when temps reached 30's and I haven't touched it all winter. Boost with MBC is more responsive and absolutely rock steady ALL THE TIME. I can post logs to show difference if you want. |

You know how the temp drops and it seems like your car is a monster. That is fine, but I hate it when it warms up and the car feels like a dog again. It would be nice to tone the power down a bit in the winter and crank it back up in the summer again. I will def have to read up some more on this. More comments welcome

IWSTI Addict since: Oct 2005 Trader Rating: (2) | I ran logs just after the tune as a baseline to know where things should be with MBC. #2, you have to have a boost gauge. I was consistently hitting 19.5psi (Manifold Relative Pressure, Corrected). When it gets warm out and I no longer get 19.5, then I'll turn it up. For engine health, I would think its less important during the spring months, because really you're just going to lose boost pressure with less-dense warmer air. Its when its starting to get cold is when you have to watch things, as with MBC you can overboost- if you are tuned at warmer temps. although I'm sure theres a safety margin tuned in, you don't need that kind of power in snow anyways. Yes, talk to Mike he's very knowledgable. |

IWSTI Addict since: Sep 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | Falkens are here! I went with a 225/40 18. My last set were 235/40 18 Toyo Proxes 4 and were 1/2 too tall. I could feel the difference between them and the stock RE070s. This time around I wanted summer performance back and a set of 18s that were not any taller than the stock RE070 225/45 17. I dont track my car or AutoX so I really didnt need a monster wide tire. I wanted to stay close to the stock size while still fitting my 18s. The new Falkens are only 1/10 of an inch larger in diameter than the RE070s and 3/10 of an inch larger circumference. Much less than when going with the 235/40 18 Toyos they have replaced. I think I will be much happier with these. ![]() The Falkens although a smaller size, are a full 1in wider than the Toyos. ![]() My Stack O Tires until I get them mounted. These really add to the overall living room decor! You can really see the size difference in this Pic. ![]() Edit 4/4/08: Tires are mounted and balanced and going on tomorrow! IWSTI Addict since: Jan 2007 Trader Rating: (7) | Four.. i was told by Tim Bailey when he tuned my car to use the OEM boost selenoid or a prodrive. he said to do this becuase the MBC had no safety, and would hit the full XXpsi boost regardless as to weather it was getting fuel or not. (opposed to teh selenoid which reads off vaccum and if anything F's up, will cut boost). In addition ive heard that the OEM selenoid is good for up to 20-22 psi. That being said, i have a Brand new Hallman MBC that i am looking to sell. still brand new. ill let it go cheap, (if you choose to go this route. ill do like $40 shipped.) i paid 65 LMK. I hope this post helps you decide what you want to do. Good luck! be sure to get videos of the protune! |
