How I bought my STI (tips on working the dealer)
Before/After some vandalism

My STI History:

Why the STi?

I was still in high school when I first discovered Subaru. I don’t remember exactly how I came across them, but somewhere in that time I discovered the late 90's 2.5 RS. I was driving a 98 Neon at the time and absolutely hated it. It wasn't my choice for a car, but it was still transportation so I took it. From then on I was always looking for a different ride and must fell upon the RS. I loved the looks of it, the scoop, wing etc. then after doing some more research I found out it was all wheel drive with more power than my Neon. Believe me most anything that is above 132hp in a Neon has appeal to it. I figured with the power, the fact that it was based off of a rally car, it would be great in the snow here in Western NY. I also learned from enthusiast websites that for a little $ here and there it could be modded to perform pretty well (to my standards at the time, remember I drove a neon).

As time went on and I went to college my tastes changed a little and RS's were hard to come buy with low miles and in my college price range. So my lust for an RS fizzled out for a bit until the WRX came to the US. It sparked my interested again but I hated the bug eye look of the new Impreza and thought Subaru ruined a hot looking car. That and the fact it now had 4 doors. So I gave up on Subaru for a while.

After college I had the ability to buy a new car and immediately started looking for a late 90's RS again. I didn’t find many so then my tastes went toward the Acura RSX type S. I drove one and fell in love until I got a quote from the insurance company. It would have doubled my current insurance rate due to my age and the car itself. So now working as a Ski instructor I went looking for something with 4 wheel for the snow. To make a long story short, I bought an 01Blazer and was happy until I started to have a lot of problems with it.

So now that I started looking again for a new car and the look of the 04-05 STi's had that appeal to me once again. I had also grown up a little bit and the fact that it has 4 doors didn't bother me as much anymore. The STi is still that all around car that I liked back in the 90's. It still has some serious "B@lls" and can also be driven day to day as well as in the snow. So that’s my story in short.

Mods are coming, but rather slowly. I am still young and establishing myself and dont have a lot of extra cash for toys on the car. I do put money away for things here and there and always saving for new go fast parts.

Price Paid: $30,665 + Tax
Options
- 'short throw' shifter
- security system shock sensor upgrade
- wheel locks
- blue floor mats

Dealer: Faulkner Subaru Bethlehem PA (8 Miles from Becker Subaru)
Reason: I went with Faulkner because they wouldnt be undercut by Becker and gave me more for my trade

As far as picking it up. Faulkner Subaru near Allentown PA was pretty good at giving me what I wanted for my trade as well as coming to an agreeable price. Best part of the night bringing it home was about an hour after leaving the dealership we were on the highway cruising and a VW Jetta slammed on his breaks so we would catch up to him and wanted to race. Obviously I blew the guy off...I have owned this car for an hour and this asshat wants to drag. I have 100 miles on the odometer... cmon!
